Sadly this happens all the time, its nothing new. I've seen a fair few videos that I shouldnt have watched to be honest, I've learnt that lesson.

Don't you find though watching these internet videos that you start doubting what you are actually seeing as there are so many bogus ones out there?

No, when blood, gore and actually seeing people being flung from cars on terra firma is concerned would be pretty difficult to fake. Many of those filming want to capture the drifters but more often than not end up capturing the accidents which many are not nice to look at. Why the hell they put them up I'll never understand.

 

Also the problem is how they are titled, sometimes you want to look at some small bumps and little amusing accidents that the drifters have but they dont seem to know how to title them, so what you might think is some amusing accident of a 'drifter' bumping into another car actually turns out to be a horrible accident. I dont watch them anymore, you never know what your going to see.

It is annoying how many truly grim videos there are on YouTube. As you say, it's good fun to watch carnage crashes IF the people involved walk away with a nice "phew that was close" rather than losing limbs. Tricky to know what you're going to get when you click a link...

No problem, It just wasn't what i was expecting and genuinely made me feel ill, Still do a bit, I'm a bit squamish though but seeing an Arab getting flung into railings and another ones arm getting torn off and ran over does tend to put you of your porridge a bit.

Stopped by the owner of the diseasel Sierra's place to drop off a flyer for the local club meet and got invited to have a look around his garden when we got talking cars. He's got a Sinclair C5 bodyshell that has the steering and rear axle but no wheels or motor that he's wanting shut of (I'm tempted), a Mk1 Polo windscreen that sadly won't fit my Mk2 and a full set of 5 Hillman Sunbeam/Tiger knock-off wire wheels with 4 crossplies in reasonable condition on them. He's looking for offers, but he's not mega fussed about how much they go to, more that they go to someone that can use them. There's also an ancient Ferguson tractor that he's been using for some landscaping and whatnot.

 

My inner hoarder wanted to take ALL THE THINGS, but I have no idea what I'd do with them all if I did and it seems somewhat dishonest to take them only to put them on eBay, even though I could do with the cash. Properly sound bloke, enjoyed having a poke around the Princess and giving me a few tips on rot spots and the like I wasn't aware of that will make looking after her that much easier too. He thought I'd paid a grand for the Princess, reckons I got a bit of a barg at the £450 I did pay.

 

I wish he lived next door instead of the other end of the lane, he seems like a proper top bloke with plenty of car knowledge from The Good Old Days.

Got 6 more to do tomorrow, could do with a bigger lever though the actual levering bit went a whole lot better than I thought it might do. Not sure if I'll do the alloys too, 6 might be enough for one day anyhow and the rest can wait for a while as there's no rush.

Frontender has gone. Typically (after being something of a PITA previously) it ran like a dream and the new owner seems well happy. I got so pissed off with it wasting garage space and not being used it was mentioned to a mate of mine who's had stacks of cars off me in the past (and vice versa to be fair) so I've just done a deal involving this Civic...

 

 

1.4i, nice interior (almost sporty for an old duffer's car!) 91,000 miles and shit loads of MOT. In typical CAVCRAFT fashion it's going to be used for a day of thorough and extensive road testing before hitting the valeting bay and then being offered up on here/everywhere else.

First impressions are ace: drives nicely, well equipped, seems well screwed together (except typical Rover 414/Honda Civic rubbish wheelarch rust protection) and pulls pretty well.

My brother has just surprised me by purchasing a metallic green Vauxhall Tigra which he's asked if I'll help on the bodywork with as it has a couple of blebs that need attention. £300, MoT just expired and no tax doesn't sound too promising, but by the sounds of things, the guy he's bought it off has recently replaced it with a Charade (I'm pretty sure that's what brother said) and just doesn't use the Tigra and up until now it's been looked after quite well so isn't a shed.

 

Pictures when I see it, it's due to be paid for and collected tomorrow, but I do know it's a Mk1 on it's original soft spoke alloys. Seems an odd choice for a family car, but then I never could work out what my brother looks for in a car. This is the nearest picture I can find to the description he gave me of what he's bought, in part because I had to remind myself what the old Tigra actually looks like.

New caliper fitted to the BX Safari. Drives rather nicely now, though the PAS is lacking at times. I think the pump is probably a bit weak but it's nowhere near as bad as the Mk1 was. A change of LHM and a filter clean might be in order. Went through the MOT prep and it fell at the first hurdle. No windscreen washers. The blockage is somewhere between the pump (which is fine) and the pipe that goes right through the wiper spindle. It's a bleedin' nightmare set-up when things go wrong - which they often do. I think I'm just going to bodge it up with some new pipe and a pair of jets on the scuttle panel. You know, like most cars have.

 

EDIT - oh and the Mk1 BX's central locking has randomly decided to start working again.

That twatting bolt on the 7 series who's head I chopped off came out with a set of vice grips once I got it in the vice. Rather than a stuck thread it must have just been the tension caused by it being on impossibly tight. Impact guns shouldn't be used on every bolt!

I posted earlier about waiting for a 15/16ths socket off eBay so I could change the Mini's oil. It's not turned up yet but today I found a 24mm socket which did the job. Really need to organise my sockets better.

 

Would running 5w30 semi synth hurt a Mini? Because that's what the garage who serviced it last year put in (I only found this out last week looking at the receipt). Surely it can't be good for the gearbox. Anyway what's done is done and it's got quality 20w50 in it now.

 

They look like tiny pickup trucks at that angle.
