Cool, they better not try to fuck me about..

I've been working on Renault's a lot recently..

New cables ordered, should be in this afternoon.

Lengths look much more like the thing.

At the time I had a 205 1.9 GTi and the Clio felt huge compared to it. Nowadays they feel small.

I wonder how a 205 1.9 feels now?

I've got a few 205 GTi's and regularly drive my friends Clio 182.

The Clio doesn't really feel bigger than the 205 to be honest, at least not relatively - that's to say that both feel distinctly small compared to most of things on the road and any modern B-segment hatch! It does feel a little heavier, more planted and far more solid though, as you'd expect really given their respective eras, but is unquestionably a spiritual successor and has the same "eager puppy on a leash" feel to it that doesn't want to be driven sedately.

I love it frankly, great fun and must surely be one of the last "old school" hot-hatches - keep thinking that I should really buy one while they're still cheap and there's some cared for examples out there that haven't been ruined or neglected. Not seen a Ph1 172 in ages and even Ph2's seem to be rapidly disappearing from the roads :(

Should only be good ones left in the market- I've bought all the shite:)

They do feel similar to a 205, but have some crash safety. Definitely a "cake and eating it" scenario

You say that like it's a good thing!

What's not to like? Light weight, nimble, thin a pillers

All round a winner:)

Hopefully they will arrive ok this pm.

If the guy didn't suck air through his teeth and tell you that there's 8 different kinds then I may go back :)

I must have missed a memo somewhere along the line with 80s/90s Peugeots. With the exception of the 305 I'd have a Renault of the same era over any of them.

All personal experience and taste:)

I must confess to being more aufait with the pug products than the Renault ones.

Good luck!

You know that's why modern house bricks have three holes in? So you can attach them to a suitably lengthed cable and pull them up when you want to release the handbrake. Bit of a bugger getting out and wedging said bricks under wheels when you get to the pie shop, but the system half works.

See this picture?

That's new haunbrake cables fitted and tensioned:)

Should get it in for an MOT on Thursday

Was it just shit cables then? Were they from motorfactors or online?

Was it just shit cables then? Were they from motorfactors or online?

Several things were at play.

1. Being an Exclusive, this is a run out ph1 Clio, and built in change over year to Ph2

2. There are 3 potential cable lengths per side.

3. The standard parts flagged by the parts system are the shortest cables

4. My car has the longest ones fitted

All in all, the job wasn't too bad, the real area which could have been a pain was getting the cables swapped for the right (longer) ones.

Luckily the factors were spot on, swapped them no issue and no additional charge.

2. There are 3 potential cable lengths per side.

So they only did a disk brake rear on the 172/182 models and yet still managed to get three different lengths of cable? How very French.

Well done for persevering with such illogical nonsense and getting a fresh ticket on it.

I thought the traction control just told you that the wheels were spinning so you just don't have a bulb...

Nope, PH1 has no TC/no cruise and cable throttle.

As this is now MOT'D I called up to see about making it the daily..

£13.14 saving over the E36.

Reckon it'll be daily driver ASAP

Best get started on the snagging then (unlike a certain bridge...)

Whens the E36 roffle then ;)

Ah yes, suppose I should look at that

I got this swapped over to my daily driver insurance today.

Just as well too, as the burd's wan has decided it doesn't like gearbox oil again..

Leak from the near side boot/cv gearbox oil seal thing? Absolutely silly design they are. Oh for conventional push in seals!
