Shitefest 2018 (U.K.) Chez Saabnut 9-10th june

That sounds like a cracker idea however, given that I've not actually moved in yet, cooking supplies at the flat are limited so we may have to wander along to 'Spoons in the city for a breakfast. There's a little Tesco Local at the top of the road so I'll see what I can do.

Myself and cms206 usually rock up at Shitefests at about 1500hrs therefore we'll not be leaving 'till lunchtime as we're not bothering with the scenic route. I don't know what Mr _bowl will be doing regarding routes north.

So itsupty yous.

Wasn't expecting you to lay the table, was expecting to find a cafe but it's one less thing for us to have sat in the field moving from car to car, especially if we will only be 10 miles away! Myself and Ghosty don't really have any plans so we're easy!

I'm up for a breakfast or whatevs on the way up, still not sure what I'm taking though!

Ok then how about you all head to my new gaff for about 9. Drop stuff off then we can walk in to the city centre. There's 2 Wetherspoons near Central station, about 20 - 25 mins slow walk away. Do breakfast then walk back for our transport. Those doing the scenic route can do that, I'm doing the direct route so I can afford to kick about until lunchtimeish

I'm tempted to go direct as I've managed to misplace £100 cash  so the fuel saving would be welcome.

Posted

Yea im not fully up for the scenic route, want to just get there, plus fuel as Ghosty said.

Breakfast plans sound good to me though! I'll buy you breakfast max! If it's spoons I'll have that rolling around in the coin holder in the car!

I checked my garden shed earlier this evening.

I do indeed still have some charcoal and kindling for my barbecue. :D

I've just washed my car! When did I buy it, November? First wash! Most of it was crap from when it snowed, and lots and lots of moss! Bollocks to drying it though, didn't even clay it,

Due to the appalling management at my place of work, I have now not got Friday off. This means setting off up North straight after work (6-7pm). It's a 10hr drive so I should be rocking up about 5am Saturday, just in time to point Mat the Cat in the direction of his bed.

Make sure you spin him around 3 times before doing so

Does that time allow for numerous piss stops?  I'm afflicted by peanut bladder syndrome, so need to stop every 2-3 hours which is a tad annoying.

I also need to buy a car in the next couple of days as Mrs T is using the Cavalier next weekend, and the Rover has developed a few more creaks and groans from the front end.  Will probably be alright but I don't want to kill another Ronda within the space of two months...

If I had a spare day to get to Shitefest say leaving from Glasgow. I would take a totally crazy and impractical route (surely the A.S. way?) as detailed below. Very scenic in bits 8)

Has this route been decided on yet? I have also had to change my plans and need to head home on Sunday evening unfortunately which means it's be a faff and a half bringing the caravan for 2 nights. Going to take the camper instead so probably more suited to a scenic drive.

Ellon Indoor Market?I was wandering around in there again the other week, while getting the tyres sorted.

Can we go to both please?!

2-3 hours? If only I could last that long.

Do you want a loan of a car to take to SF Rob?

The world's worst tent has landed.

post-19482-0-91261500-1528131453_thumb.jpg

The cotton inner is badly mildewed/damp stained. I've tried various solutions to no avail, at some point I need to drive to the supermarket and buy some white vinegar once rush hour finishes... I'm just going to leave it up to air/dry out.

Posted

Just been woken up by the police.

"Do you know anything about a tent?"

Apparently somebody phoned it in as they thought somebody was squatting in the yard. My tent is so shite it attracted police attention within 6 hours of arrival...

Strap it to the roof of your car whilst erected, it'll air itself out on the drive up...

I'm fairly packed! Just clothes and bedding now, will go shopping with Max on Thursday

Can we be excited yet?

Guys, just a heads up for anyone planning on arriving at Shitefest early Friday morning. I don't think anybody is, but just in case. By early, I mean between 0700 and 0800 (see, I said I did not think anyone was). During this period, the track down to the Scottish Field of Fun (OK, my front lawn) may be blocked for 10 to 15 minutes whilst my neighbour loads up some cattle he has to take to market. He is aware that hordes of unkempt lunatics old car botherers are descending for the weekend, and has said he will minimise any obstructions, but please be patient if you get caught. Ta muchly.

Posted

Unkempt? I had my yearly haircut on Saturday thank you very much! 9am I shall be in or near Glasgow eating fried food from hopefully a plate

Posted

Plus I imagine your neighbor will regret blocking the road with farm machinery as hoardes of people give them a good look and chat to him!

Do we get a cow for dinner on Saturday? Maybe one he can't sell?

Oooooooooh, so posh.

At 9am I'll be at work so no worries there. I've given up on demoulding the tent, I don't think there is any live mould anymore but the cotton inner is very gross looking. It's probably been stained for longer than I've been alive... I'm considering just going over it with fabric paint if I can find any in time.

I've bought an inflatable bed, LED lamp, folding chair and a sleeping bag. I'll be living a life of luxury.

Balls...I thought this was *next* weekend, not this coming one.

Unlikely I'll be able to make it as a result.

1) Haven't confirmed with the friend whose spare room I'd be sleeping at.

2) Likely to be frantically trying to get the Lada through the damn MOT so next week I can start concentrating on the Invacar.

3) Half of the rest of the family are off galavanting anyhow so it's just me and Abby here and the dog, and I don't reckon she'd take kindly to me taking off as well. I'm probably making that up, but the worry of causing family stress causes me a lot of issues so I try not to have to change plans rapidly as a result...yay mental health issues...fun for the whole family.

4) ...Well I'll ask some questions tomorrow and see what things are like. If I can swing it I'll still aim to attend...but I'm probably going to have to bow out.

If I can swing it, it'll have to be the Activa due to the comedy emissions results from the Lada. Unless I can get the oxygen sensor changed and get it a test before the weekend...then have an 800 mile test of my new fuel system. What could possibly go wrong?

Thanks for that, I'd been intending to google if I'd got time. Castle or Abbey sound likely for us.

What are you lot doing whilst your up there....

Personally, not a lot more than standing around in a field full of old shite, talking about old shite. That's the usual formula, usually with optional trips out.
