Shitefest 2018 (U.K.) Chez Saabnut 9-10th june

I'm trying to think of an interesting route for my huge* journey from Aberdeen!

Hmm. I could go west then down the Slug Road, instead of taking the A90 to Stonehaven.

The A93 is totally worth it for the people coming from further afield though.

Today's fun facts.

The bus takes approximately 37 litres of engine oil.

This does not include the 2 and a bit litres to preload the oil filter.

The sump plug needs a 32mm socket (photo is a 1/2" drive ratchet adapted for a 3/4" drive socket).

How often are the changes? I'm sure it's cheap* to run....

Posted

That's the first change I've done. For the mileage I'm doing it's more a time based thing. Oil's good for about 3 years before it starts to degrade and since mine is about 2.5 years old it's getting to that stage. Add in to the mix all the WD40 and solvents used to clean the deck for reinstallation of the rocker gear.

In front line service I'd expect oil to get changed once a month.

South Deeside road to to Strachan, then the Old Military Road to Cain O' Mount, then onto Fettercairn.

Take a tow rope, the Minor may need some help up the Cairn...

I have gotten the Friday off work, so plan is a go-go for me! :D

Is there anyone thinking about coming by plane, train or bus or in a modern car?

I still have a selection of cars that I'd be willing to lend out for that weekend including a Merecedes W123 230E, Lada Riva 1500, Peugeot 305 estate in petrol or diesel form.

I still have no idea, but it's a kind offer, and may yet be required. We'll see...

I now have authorisation after last years questions from SWMBO - why are you going?  -  'cause.  do you know anyone - no.

Had a great time - introduced to scottish delicacies including square sauasge;  will bring boxes of Sandford Orchard cider as last year - rude not to as they are only 5 miles rom home

Hope to blag a ride in a GS, my father started with a very early one and I failed to rescue the original motor show car to my current shame - it was well rusted probably the best part of 35 years ago

Where is SF18?  I should be up on Friday afternoon

Where is SF18?

A few miles south-west of Aberdeen.

My vote is for the Slug road. Better than the A90.

Looks like I shall miss this. Working in Holland next month.

Thinking it's a bit far from there. Oh well, next year then.

Fly into Embra errrport, take up FOAD's astonishingly kind and generous offer of one his fine vehicles and get yourself there!

The cider was much liked last year, are you campervaning again?

We may have a winner in the longest travelled category.

I make that 547 miles each way.

That could depend on where you count as the start of the journey.

I've been looking at all sorts of options for driving straight to Aberdeen from Romania. I haven't found one that's legal yet annoyingly. Unless we get someone not from the UK to drive it. Then it's entirely legal. What a farce.

tooSavvy appears to be not from this planet, so might fit the bill? :-P

Does anybody here have dual nationality and so can claim to be just passing through?

Hold on. I was thinking I couldn't get away with Aberdeen as being 'on the way' to a pre-booked MOT, but what if we get a ferry straight to Aberdeen?

*Google*

£90 from Hook of Holland to Aberdeen! Book MOT at home, sorted!

EDIT - not sorted. Crap website. It was actually sending me to Harwich...

If there's lots of police upon landing you could 'break down' and call arse, sure someone will have an a frame with them!

Or buy a beavertail on Gumtree, somewhere near a UK ferry port...
