How about you all invade Barry Cade's new job as a caravan site warden? :D

The Trossacks aren't far past Glasgow...

M74 after Grenta is a favorite for camera vans too.

Most of the road north is avg camera misery...

Yes I'm going to update my Tom Tom, or try to so the cameras are up to date. Failing that I've got a cheap road angel in my ebay watch list, and can direct debit a subscription then cancel it when I'm home...

Or just look forwards & pay attention to spot cameras...

I view it as if you don't see a camera in time then you're traveling too fast for your level of observation.

Good grief! We agree on something!

Deity of your choice on a bicycle, I didn't expect that.

After the other weekend when I fully hold my hands up to being stupid, and am watching the letterbox every day, unfamiliar country will have help, downloaded the TomTom app, need to find a way to mount my phone to the dash without a stupid windscreen mount anyway so it should all come together. Buying old, cheap GPS devices is such a minefield, TomTom just stuck 2 fingers up at our go 520 and I hacked that a year or so ago, not enough apparently.

Anyway, this is about hotels, not speeding. Or shitefest in general, not speeding. Daz will stop me speeding anyway, won't you buddy? Daz... Ah fuck

My phone fits in my cupholder, I don't recall if that works in goonas.

I think Krujoe offered accomodation it that there Yorkshire for us southern softies heading up.

I might stop in Durham and see family depending on who I'm heading up/back with.

I'm generally in agreement with Hooli on Cameras but did get a nasty scare on the A14 a while ago seeing a camera van in a layby through a gap in the convoy of lorries I was overtaking.  Fortunately it was too small a gap for him to get me as 75mph in a van would have been points not prizes.

Joe's place is a little far south to make sense for some of us I think, though it might make sense from the West Midlands and beyond.

Get Daz or someone with cruise to lead :-D

If it's average hell I definitely want to be on the ball and in good light.

I once passed a bike cop* busy putting the camera on the tripod at 120+ on the A12, I obviously didn't slow down incase he decided to leave the camera behind....

I've always looked a lot better as I exit that bend since.

*his face was a perfect display of 'oh darn it I wish I'd got here slightly earlier to apprehend that ruffian'.

Mines too fat. Just like it's owner... Plus the dash rattles with the cup holder out, just to remind you it's a Renault...

Funny that's in Dumfriesshire.

Get yourself a vent holder for your phone beko, assuming the gooner's vent slats are robust enough.

I've got a sticky window mount in the Starlet that fits the top of the dashboard too. Was in the Honda for months before that. Must try and remember the link...

I have one of these, it's a magnetic one. Not bad but the phone falls off sometimes.

Try and get a clamping one or something.

This seems to have turned into a what phone holder thread!, ill try and answer some questions!

My centre air vents are falling to bits as it is, so a vent holder won't help

Not a fan of windscreen holders

Did find a nice brodit proclip type holder for the laguna 2, but that's £20, which seems a bit steep.

I do have a plan though, which I will investigate later!

Paper cup riveted to the dashboard?

I bought a cheap £25 Eurohike tent from Millets in 1999, just to go to the Glastonbury Festival that year. I've still got it now, and it has appeared at Shitefests. Think I got my money's worth out of it!

Damn. I had one and it finally gave up the ghost about two years ago (although mine went to Property in a Rover P6 rather than Glasto).

I've never liked any other tent as much as that one!

A90 north of Dundee is all average speed cameras. All the way to Aberdeen.

Just so you're warned.

It's rather handy having cruise control on both my cars.

Funny that's in Dumfriesshire.

I realised that after posting but left it as assumed not a lot of these southerners would know.

It has just occured to me that at every Shitefest, Chumly etc apart from the first, which I was not present, a good portion of the Scottish contingent have always had Scotland window flags for the car (See attached evidence). Surely that means a similar proportion of the Englanders have to reciprocate this year?

Mmm fair shout. How stabbed would we get if we had them on as we drove up? Or should we fit them when we reach the safety of the field of dreams 2018?

Posted

I've always waited until getting there. Or at least the very last part of the drive. I wouldn't trust them at anything above 20mph
