Mondeo Mk3 battery removal.

I need to disconnect the battery on my 2002 Mondeo Mk3 petrol. Can anyone tell me please, if the key will continue to start the car after the battery is reconnected? Will I need to  reprogram the key to synchronize with the immobilizer and if so, how does one do it? Also, how does one reset the electric windows? I have never had the battery disconnected before but the battery terminals are showing signs of corrosion and I need to correct this now, before the bad weather arrives.

Thanks all.

Don't worry about the immobiliser - that's all hard coded. stereo might need a code though.

One touch windows might need a few cycles to re-learn, but they might not.

Stereo will need a code. I can't recall the windows or immobiliser causing a problem.

If you look in the handbook it will tell you the sequence for helping the engine management relearn quickly, it's something like idle for x minutes then hold at 1800rpm for y minutes. Not essential but avoids lumpiness the first time you drive.

my 2002 Fusion 're-learns' very quickly. Just a radio code needed - and they are available free online if you have the deets.

Just pour a kettle full of boiling water on the battery terminals, that should clean them up.

Then smear them with Vaseline.

Thank you gentlemen. I knew I asked my question in the right place. Thinking about it, it makes sense that the immobilizer would be hard coded. But I never knew to hold the window switch in position for 5 seconds. Very useful info. Thank you.

Will be fine but I always drop the drivers window and have the keys in my pocket when changing a battery . Just incase

Me too. That clunk of the central locking as you put the lead back on some cars is stomach turning.

Even worse is when you have the few seconds of smugness that you left the window open but followed by the whirr of the motor as the global closing does its job

If you post the serial number off the side of your stereo (M and six digits) I can generate the code for you.

Surprised relearning windows is still a thing nowadays!

Even more so a thing as more and more cars have anti jam because of safety and one-touch becoming the norm. Writing to memory to survive power loss brings additional problems. Also makes it harder to reset as likely needing diag tools to do it.
