£440 for our lovely, 1 previous owner, 65k 855AWD with FSH? Dad is probably still under the illusion that its worth ten times that :)

Bet they would even try and haggle that down when they saw the bumper scuffs and cracked trim that I opted not to list

Well i decided to have some fun and try for cars which i have photos ofFord Escort Van owned and abused by my college: £50 and i had to list it as a estate base model, as van wasnt a choice hahaa 1984 Ford Capri i spotted- £50?!?! When was the last time a capri went for that? 2001?Ford Sierra Sapphire i spotted-£50. Obviously this doesnt take into account the massive scene craving for base models Saphs to abuse. This is just another example of filtering out the stupid and screwing them over! Doubt Ebay are worrying.

Think they are part of Car Craft...

Yes... from my research (googling the name) you take your car to them, and they make another offer based on condition. A much lower offer. A few happy customers out there though! Can't help but feel Carcraft would be a much more interesting place if it were stocked with Piazzas, Bentley Continentals, Alfa SZs and Sierra GLXs. When I was last there it looked like the Saxo factory circa 1998.

Actually I am mildly worried by this, as it's the opposite of the scrappage scheme. Some mouth breathers might believe that's all their cars are worth, after all it was on telly wasn't it?

Inclined to agree with this, they can get £200 for their car against a newish ex-fleet numbmobile, at an inflated price and finance at a ridiculous APR from Carcrap/webuyanycar, or £2000 off (ish) against a new one at a main stealer provided what they trade in gets fragged. What do they care... It's all about having the newest plate in the street after all..

The more I think about it, the more I think it's a bigger risk to shite than scrappage is. After all, we all know that a 240, cortina or Laurel is worth MUCH more than £50, but do the fuckwits that buy into this hype know it?

You've just given me a great idea Fred - webuyanyoldshite.com!Seriously, offer £20 for a Datsun Stanza and you never know, someone might come along and say "sounds fair!"

These dicks have trouble with Northern Ireland reg marks. They think my 02 S-type is an 04And 16700 for my 06 Range Rover Sport? FECK OFF!

Yeah I can hear the jingle now, do you think we could get away with it on prime time telly? And where do you get the softwear from? You know, the one that offers you some random sub £100 figure....we-buy-any-shite-dot-com.............

"webuyanycar" have priced it at £180, I have booked an appointment with them on thursday 28th may 2009, so if anyone can pay £180 before thursday they can take it. If you want to see other images then email me and I will send you them, bare in mind that there are dents and scratches and a crack on the windscreen of this car.

Good luck there mate

I would imagine any car in the hands of the fuckwits who buy into this hype is likely to be beyond saving anyway.

It's a total rip. And anyone can see that. The only folk this genuinely appeals to is probably methadone-addicts in seaside towns trying to flog their dead (or at least nearly dead) relatives cars off in order to buy more drugs/bling/train fares to appear on Jeremy Kyle. HOWEVER, it does have it's advantages, because it does give you a bare minimum figure to work from, at least for newer stuff. We ran our recently departed Picasso through there, WBAC.con would give £1500, so you can at least use that as a big FUCK OFF leverage to all the wazzocks who offer £500 'for a quick sale'. Also, as a result we get their 'newsletter' by email, which is actually quite well written, and contained one of the most concise and intelligent anti-scrappage-scheme rants I have seen thus far....

The idea itself doesn't offend me, but I'd love to find the people that wrote the jingle for the advert and set them on fire.

I spent ages typing in all the damage to the Astra, until I got bored:

This service is currently unavailable.

Maybe I should send them a picture of it, that might have the same effect as a massive denial of service attack

Whoa!Just tried this for the fiesta. I was totally honest about the little dents etc it has.Valued at £740!!This actually seems reasonable!

Thats a lot more reasonable than the £4995 a local dealer was advertising a 2001 Fiesta for in the motoring section last Fri. Ok so it was a Zetec S with 33k on the clock, but I was seriously tempted to pop up there and ask them what drugs they had been taking

Yeah they're good little motors but I doubt even a Zetec would have been more than £8500ish when it was new! That dealer is having a laugh!

£8005 for the Zafira. Not bad, i paid £8500 last December for it. However £50 for the micra is crap, but probably all its money.

So what they are really saying is they don't want anything old, just newish tat they can know straight out again. So they don't actually buy any car, the name should be we buy any car we can sell for a profit..... Fair enough, just don't get some modern tat owner's hopes up!

A friend of mine just had his T plate Escort fail the MOT for major structural rot. Webuyanycar quoted him £180, and coughed up £150 when they saw it. He was well pleased, seeing as it didn't even have a current ticket. What we both don't understand is why it was so rusty. Is it that Escorts of this age were not built very well because of the new Focus? I don't recall seeing a crusty Focus of the same age. He was told it was a Spanish build, which guarantees rust. Any thoughts?

Ooh, not good. He's considering a Focus as a replacement!

My N plate Escort failed its MOT for a battery tray in 2002 and should really have failed for sills in 2003. I sold it early in 2004 and it was scrapped soon after.

£345 for our 95 M reg Merc E220 Auto with 6 months MOT and 172k. It's worth twice that surely?

well well well, I just bought a Lexus LS400 on a 93 plate with 120k on the clock for £500. WBAC.COM will give me £1060 for it...result methinks (won't sell though

Escrots are known for rust, didn't know they made them in Spain but wikibollox confirms this. It's likely it sat around for a good few months before being sold - price was the only reason to get one after the Focus came out and fleets had most.

Poorly repaired accident damage early on can also send a car to an early grave.

Haven't noticed much rot on the eraly Foci I've seen.
