I ditched the modern and I bought.... (part one)

After contemplating it for about a year I finally bit the bullet and paid BMW to take their 3 1/2 year old hatchback off my hands so I no longer had to pay them monthly for it....

So I needed a replacement. Whilst commuting in the MX5 or the KA is possible... erm.... well I just wanted another motor. Something more comfortable for my 40 mile round trip.

But then a new idea was discussed. What if rather than replacing it with one vehicle we replaced it with two.... a vehicle for fun and a vehicle for function.

The functional vehicle was put on hold until this week. However a search ensued for something we'd always fancied... and we saw some right crap. But we ended up finding one about 30 miles away which was a good one.

So what have I purchased?

It's a product of 80s/90s badge engineering....

Will seat 4 but those 4 May also be able to do more than just sit inside...

Despite being from 1992 it has carburettors and a manual choke...

My neighbour across the road has an almost identical one...

It would be rather impractical for a commute....

Any guesses...?

A 92 Ducato Rambler. Generally good condition with a few little jobs to do. Interior is in super condition!

In fact... I'm sending this message from inside of it! On campsite Wi-Fi...

Helmand Province. You may wish to reconsider.

Not quite Helmand....

It's near Criccieth in North Wales. The views are stunning!

And the bogs are spotless!

All in all a winning choice for our first foray into camper vanning!

I'm looking at possibly getting a camper van at some point as it will be nice to get away for weekends next summer, will be interested to see how you get on with this.
