Sports car project, Porsche 924 or equivalent

Looking for a project to waste money on and get frustrated with. A Porsche 924 is something I've been quite fancying, but other cars considered!

I have a Toyota you may be interested in; hardly a 'project', although I have considered turning it into a track car.

Why not a Scimitar SS1, as seen on here? It is just the pop up lights, isn't it, it's always about the pop up lights.

Every car should have them. They're brilliant.

Sill rot is a biggy on these. Galvanised they maybe, but they rust badly. Outer sills are repairable if the inners are ok ish. If both are rotten it is a massive job.

924s/944s are great cars and I would have another without a thought BUT they don't like to sit and apart from rust they can such from all sorts of electrical gremlins if not driven regularly, 944s are worse to be fair but 924s suffer badly as well. The weird half old/ half modern fuse box is a nightmare.

But even still, buy one, buy it now.

I think, to be fair, most 924 electrical gremlins seem to be caused by previous owner bodges and periods of maintenance on the cheap. Fuelling, air leaks and the K Jet injection I'd say give more problems, although pretty much everything is straightforward to solve. The 2 litre 924 are 70's cars so they're 70's simple. They do like to be used and they don't enjoy sitting around.  Other low slung coupes of desire are available.

But they only need to bodge it if it goes wrong in the first place ;-) the injection system is dead simple to work on. A lot better than most carbs!
