...viewing day.

Genuine mileage and to be fair, a bit of a cracker.

The 'problem' is no MOT, it's thrown enough water out of the exhaust to flood several counties and the heater isn't getting hot. I don't think it's HGF (no signs, aside from v.smokey exhaust, and that's probably just the steam from condensation of exhaust water). It's getting to temp, fan cutting in and not over heating. Eventually (probably a good 30 mins) all the hoses were red hot, ditto the exhaust steam, but still no heat in heater. I reckon an Italian tune up would clear it, but could it be something worse than simply being an old car that's sat for quite a while? The smoke did get better after a while, by the way...

Bodywork was fabulous, slight scrape to o/s/r arch (and a giffer paint touch up) and the odd tiny mark or scratch, interior was a treat and engine bay and underside etc seem great. There's a tough of surface rust forming on the bottom leading edge of sills, but a quick sandpaper and touch up would hide that.

Could the lack of heat be an airlock? It does look very nice. Egg on here will be going hyper on this

That just looks to have been ran only for short periods over the last year or so and water accumulated in the exhaust; look at the rust!

I'd factor in a new zorst; a few weeks of heat and running in that and it'll fall to bits

Mk1s look handsome in that colour

I did wonder that, but would an airlock cause temp gauge problems, i.e it running cool? It's stood about 15 months I think.

Not sure, it did on my Reliant yes, not sure about more modern cars.

Is this the one off the eBay thread? Looks pretty good. I've got a bit of a soft spot for mk1 Mondeos

Right, I'm sure to regret this, but I've sacked it off. Lovely car, but I think it's too much faffing about for me.

Mine never has much heat in the cabin, even though no-one who's looked at it thinks any signs of HGF. Could be blocked heater matrix, or stat, Sierraman knows all about that. I have a new OEM stat (about £17) that I keep meaning to get fitted.

All my hoses get hot  (slowly though, not sudden) (!)

Remember mine was also giffer owned and no miles to speak of in recent years.

Engine looks clean (but under bonnet insulation missing?), looks like OEM wiper blades too which I take as a positive sign!

Mine has the same surface rust, will need sorting before long as mine's a keeper.

I think this one has the later non-yellowing headlights as well (prized in Mondy circles)

Looks like lower suspension arms were probably changed about 2011, but from advisory this year might need doing again soon.

In other words, if this was 10 miles up the road from me, I'd buy it ;-)

Oh shit, sorry, that was earlier today when our Senior Manager meeting diverted to the pub.

Looks a good buy, Billy... keeper or sell on ?

That velour looks sooo cosy. I'm forever saddened when I think of my Dad's mint old white 24v Ghia X, which he sold to a 'mate' and was scrappaged against a Hyundai i10 soon after.

The seat trim is nice. Is it a 2.0 Si??

That looks like a 1.8 Verona in Juice green just like the first car I drove on the road.
