Mason the 1995 Lexus LS400 (THE LUDGE..)

I was talking to Brian at the meet in Weds and I admit that I had done some cursory Man maths regarding how much it would cost to run it to Croy station and back each day.

Had a stab at 16 mpg as the round trip is 16 miles and about £85 to fill it up. I guessed that would last me 2 weeks so that's £170 per month compared to £40 for the Megane 😳

Yeah, there's a reason I commute my relatively modest 50 miles a day in the SMOLL CAR

Posted

I did 16 miles a day (work-wise) in Mason for six months. The worst tank was 230 miles, although I only ever put £60 in it.

I got just over 300 miles from one tank which involved two long pleasant trips up the motorway.

I will maintain that you simply don't own one for any economically advantageous reason, but notwithstanding that, they are one of the most frugal V8s around. It's better on fuel than the 3.0 Omega I had...

Waaafted Mason up to Luss for a mates wedding today - Made up 6 mins on a 50min journey- it piles on the mph so easily.

Tomorrow sees a trek to Callander for the legendary pies ( Mr FPB7 can attest)

Wonder how he'll cope on the dukes pass...

Silently.

I was imagining more v8howly then understeery in ditchy

If my performance around Knockhill is anything to go by... yes.

Can you spot it in the "generic posh hotel" car park?

And proof that He climbed the Dukes pass nae borrer. Bit wallowy in the corners but the v8 flattens the hills!

Good to see it getting used. Cracking car isn't it?

He's been on fleet 8 days, total mileage covered so far..

I'd say it was getting used!

When in Callander I could not refuse the opportunity to park it next to an electric car;)

Then it was time to shop sans proles

None of you realise exactly how happy I am seeing many photographs of Mason all of over the place and still warbling along strongly.

Nearly two years now since I saw the original Autotrader advert of dubious accuracy, made the initial phone call and went on a northward trek up the A508 and A6 to the east side of Leicester for a gander.

That makes two of us! My time with it may have been fairly brief but it racked up the miles quite nicely and will be remembered fondly.

P.S. you need to update your signature. Again ;)

Did you drive down the 7.5 miles of dirt track? It was fun to drive along in the Carlton.

Took Mason Drag racing today, ran a best of 15.593 @ 93mph with my Brother driving:)

Pretty impressive for a living room on wheels.

Still sounds damn odd with the exhaust that's on it..

Posted

I think that exhaust is maybe robbing it of power more than anything else. The whistle always bugged me...

I may have to go underneath to investigate...

Straight pipe, a la Merc? But times two.

The whistle is to warn ladies that a stud muffin is approaching

This prevented a diplomatic incident earlier today.

Judicious use of the v8 was sufficient to tempt the Godson out of a week long sulk, and reason with him re apologising to parents for his behaviour.

V8= Kof Annan + Ban Ki Moon

Or did you just scare the shite out of him? ;-)

Are you/Lexus for hire? I could use that for Lachlan from time to time.

As I said, this car should be on prescription from the NHS, superbly relaxing.

This last saw action mid June, and I'm planning to take it to Aberdeen on Thursday on Business

I wiped the leaves off, popped the key in the ignition and boom, fired straight up.

Took it to the gym this evening, exiting the street with a most impressive "One Wheel Peel".

Thereafter it continued to impress with ice cold air con after Teh seshun. My moobs remained chilled.
