Brightbus at Anston?

These are a regular sight near me, school contracts they use them for, see them a lot on the A57 chucking loads of black shit out the back.

A mate of mine used to drive these, awful in the wet he said. They used to have the sliding windows originally at the front for traffic in HK.

Not any more... Brightbus ceased at the end of term on July 27th. My lot have bagged three for schools up in Glasgow.

The Leylands aren't bad; the Dennis Dominator based Condor and Dragon were terrifying. They had half drop opening windows throughout and opening hoppers on the windscreens, not for traffic but because in HK they didn't have demisters.

Spotted tonight on the mean street of Thrapston, this Midas was flaunting its pedigree in the wheel department.

The factory used to be just down the road at Corby. Back seat looks cosy, dash looks Metroey. I'd have one.

My word, it's just like a Mini Ogle redesigned by a blind man who's never heard of a car.

Stopped at Apex Corner ,which is the bottom of the A1 near Edgware/Hendon, to pay cash into my bank via Post Office(?!)

Anyway I spotted a Bluebird, so took a picture , then realised the Hire van behind was an R reg. To me that's practically brand new , but it dawned on me it's actually over 20 years old, then I noticed all their other vans were all at the newest Turn of the Century.

What they drive like, God only knows but they all look presentable, some branded Ace some Apex but all seem to be the same company. Must have a lot of white paint.

Hammerite has it's uses: I painted a wooden (well mdf) toilet seat with aerosol Hammerite and it was still perfect when I binned it after 20 years. Absolutely useless for car use though.

A toilet seat in a car could be useful !

I don't think wiring was Mr Midas's forte as his factory burnt down in 1989. Despite this the cars re-appeared in various guises the way kit cars seem to. The moulds are often a special 'non-inflammable' sort...

Local daily driver this one and has been since the mid-80s when it was bought at auction.  Scaryoldcortina filled me in the details and it's just a wonderful bit of kit with a great little back story the like of which I thought had died out when Y2K happened.

I see this trundling about a fair bit locally.  Also see a Volvo 140/early 240 estate in Leadbetter mustard fairly regularly but I can't find a picture of that.

This horsebox was a neat surprise recently when the Purple Austin Rescue Mission happened.

I will own a 505 estate one day!

What's really weird is that 505 doesn't do that squeaky-creaky suspension thing as it goes down the road.

'Cos it has a simple solid rear axle!

I did not know this!  I thought they were the same as their smaller siblings.

If trams are counting then Turin still has a couple of pre-WW2 trams running the historic route but you use standard local travel tickets for them.
