Car take back

How fussy are car takeback about stuff missing from a scrap car. It says you have to have the major things in such as the engine, but could I for example get away with taking the cylinder head off? Will they give a shit when they pick it up?

"Car take back" doesn't really exist - they act as an agent for a local scrappers.

Some care, some don't.

They didn't even look under the bonnet of my mates focus when they picked it up, just picked it up paid him and away. But as said above they might not all be like that. I had the battery off it but we had it sat in the garage connected to a charger in case they wanted it. He got £80 for a totally borked 01 focus with a mingling interior. I still can't believe it. I had turned it down for free.

Says it doesn't have to be complete. Might just have the extra bits on one side then if they argue the toss chuck them in the boot. Do you think they mean the entire engine or just the engine minus the ancilliaries they are after?

Do they pay cash on collecting it?

I bet they collect a lot of cars from garages that have been half disassembled after diagnosing major failures - due to the nature of their service. I reckon you could use the excuse that it was borked and you don't know where those bits went. Especially if it's a couple of parts missing.

I don't think they can legally do that now with any form of scrap?

They paid my mate on his card, they had a machine and presumably do it like a refund.

I'll act daft then and tell them the belt went or something. Says nothing about it running. They'll hopefully not notice the missing calipers either.

Just snip the bonnet release cable then they can't really check.

But they could refuse to accept it......

Be a wasted journey for them. So shit.

but they will be local so won't give a toss either. Plenty more scrap cars in the sea.

Payment will be cheque or bacs as with all scrap metal dealers now.

Try removemycar too - same deal but probably a different local company collecting for them

Tell them the engine and electrics have gone. Literally.

Wonder if they will take the remains of the parts Alfa? No wheels, interior, doors and other stuff.

Engine present however.
