gm Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 looks like fun how's the mazda going ? stick a few extra psi in the rear tyres for extra slidey goodness
The Moog Posted February 18, 2018 Author Posted February 18, 2018 Results 2cv did alright. Ian left before the last 6 runs hence max times. Dw lopped about 4 seconds off his times, but certainly drew the crowd. My fastest was 37.6 down from the morning runs at 45 seconds. I reckon I could get another 2 seconds from trusting the car more and being a bit more controlled. Once again can't explain how much fun this is. Full on adrenalin rush every single time. Next one is in July but I think Lymm services has one soon. Apparently that is ace as has 5 different courses to follow.
The Moog Posted February 18, 2018 Author Posted February 18, 2018 looks like fun how's the mazda going ? stick a few extra psi in the rear tyres for extra slidey goodnessLeft as standard although I think that would help for next time. Was a little apprehensive in mx5 round the course but by the end was using throttle to steer which is brilliant. Needs a smaller steering wheel really as quite difficult to get round some of the tight bits. dome, gm and puddlethumper 3
The Moog Posted February 18, 2018 Author Posted February 18, 2018 Why have I never looked at this thread before....??? This looks fun.It is... Come along. When's the next one? <squints meaningfully at Dyane>Will check when next one is. Everyone is welcome. Cheap day out Really wish I could have been there in the AX. I'll defo be back for the next one.My prediction for the winner of the MX5 shootout is the red one.I reckon you would have excelled on today's course. Bit different to last time chaseracer and eddyramrod 2

dome Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 I used to love doing these. I absolutely positively did not* get lost half way round on occasion The Moog and eddyramrod 2
dollywobbler Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 You think you were having steering wheel issues?! I'm exhausted. Going from lock to lock was painful. Good run home though - three hours to cover 146 miles, and the idle came back. Does feel like something is very wrong on the suspension though, so glad I stopped. The Moog 1
The Moog Posted February 18, 2018 Author Posted February 18, 2018 Dw tonight Btw if any of the 2cv videos or pics came out ok they were asking if they could have copies for their website. The Moog Posted February 19, 2018 Author Posted February 19, 2018 So plan is next auto test is the 19th May at Nelson College. MX5 will be making an appearance, hopefully with NJGleeds newly manualised Mx5 too. All are welcome to come. I should have a spare drive in the car if anyone wants to come and have a go, but doesnt feel they want to use their car. Its only cones so you are unlikely to break anything eddyramrod 1

The Moog Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 That's a quality video. Really captured the speed in 2cv. Your right about that chasing the next second in autotesting - becomes very very addictive
320touring Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Great video - amazing how you got faster as the idle got worse;) Time for a lumpy cam* The Moog 1
chaseracer Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 I definitely need to bring Huggy along for comedy value! YES. The Moog 1
SierraMikeHotel Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Why have I never looked at this thread before....??? This looks fun. Autotesting is brilliant. I've done it as a passenger on CSMA events a couple of times but never as a driver. I really very much want to though! The Moog 1
The Moog Posted May 10, 2018 Author Posted May 10, 2018 Just booked my place for this. Another driver can borrow the car if anyone fancies trying it.
dollywobbler Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Frustratingly, I just don't have time spare at the moment. I'd love to give the Starlet a thrashing. Where is this one?
The Moog Posted May 10, 2018 Author Posted May 10, 2018 This is in Nelson near Burnley. Starlet was a cheeky little ace thing to drive round autotests. If people don't want to drive there are passenger drives available all day.
hairnet Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Autotesting is brilliant. I've done it as a passenger on BDSM events a couple of times but never as a driver. I really very much want to though! The Moog 1
The Moog Posted May 18, 2018 Author Posted May 18, 2018 Anyone near Nelson tomorrow fancy popping down we will be doing charity passenger rides from about 10:40 onwards
gigglepin Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 ive done fair bit of this , cheap and much fun motor sport, the first time i took the fester out i beat my mate in his beemer,,that brought a grin,,,from me..def worth checking out local motor clubs , a 10 membership normally lets you enter other clubs events as well....if you're in /near sussex , the eastbourne and ram motor club have got an all day autotest,,on grass, on 3rd june ,cars have to be scrutineered before it starts [basically checked over to make sure nought's gonna fall off mid test] but i know the scrute for that event ..nice chap drives a fiesta The Moog and bangernomics 2
