All this is whetting my appetite - must get to a Prescott or Shelsley Walsh this year.....

Will be at Prescott this year, usually go 3 or 4 times, especially like la vie en bleu and the autumn American meet. Shelsley I've not been to for a long long time, must go this year. Maybe an Autoshite meet is due at Prescott; lower the tone both in exhausts and social graces?

Another vote for the Citroen 602 flat twin from me, lovely little thing, so eager and willing to give its all.

Still love a V8 though, and the V6 in my previous XM, and the Warthburg 3 cylinder two stroke a neighbour had, and that American diesel estate a few posts back.

Buying lotto tomorrow, I need more of this noise.....

Audi UR Quattro?  The off beat howl of 5 cylinders and a turbo are a thing to behold surely?

Or a BDA at full chat.

Or a rotary screaming away?

Or a Fiat Twin Cam as the valves start to float and they pop flames out the exhaust..

I also enjoy the howl of a high revving V6 engine, as well as the lazy thump of a big V8.

When I first got the MG ZT KV6 the exhaust system was in need of replacement. The middle and back boxes were both broken up internally and rattling, the back box was also the wrong type, from a Rover 75 diesel I think..

Anyway, chopped the system off behind the Cat and replaced the centre box with one of these

Bought some 57mm stainless tubing, a couple of bends and routed it to one of these at the rear. Some welding for the mountings and a few aftermarket exhaust hanger rubbers and...

The result is the best sounding car I have ever owned. Not obnoxiously loud, but sounds wonderful. (IMHO) Especially so over 3000 rpm. Mmmm

The Milltek exhaust and carbon intake on my Golf do help it make some bloody lovely sounds, although at UK motorway speeds it can get a tad irritating.

One night about 6 or 7 years ago, I was in an W124 300 Turbo Diesel taxi. OK, I was a bit pissed, but that thing sounded immense. I asked the driver what the craic was with the car, and he said "Dunno exactly, my mate tinkered with it to make it go a bit quicker."
