Green = trees and grass and shit

That's an impressive level of detail.

Drove up to Swindon from Gower this morning which to the educated shiter is SKIZZER COUNTRY and one of Britain's foremost areas of outstanding CHOD...

EFA.

:D

Posted

No idea what EFA or a SKIZZER is but, on my drive particularly, CHOD is MOST apparent.

Tis a nice part of walesshire though I must say, however not too much welshness in said area, lots of folk from " that London"

BLUD.

Made it to England - stopped at Michaelwood services. Couple of (electrical) things will need sorting out as expected but it drives well and there are no warning lights on!!

Right, on to the snag list

NS electric mirror is inop (both adjustment and folding)

Rear wiper is inop (washer jet works though)

Sat nav and hands free doesn't power up at all (it has an aftermarket head unit so I'm guessing that's why - original is in the boot but who knows whether it works and what state the wiring is in)

Windscreen steams up unless I manually turn AC on or use the demist setting on the blowers which also turns AC on, just leaving the climate in auto doesn't stop it

Also has "Laguna shimmy" - shake in the steering wheel sometimes between 50 and 60 mph but not higher. Almost every one I've driven has had this including a 3 year old 17k mile example

Mine has this similar problem!! Do you know the cure? Mine is bad from 30mph up. At 70mph the shimmy reduces but you still can feel it through the chassis.

French. Possibly earth/power to the mirror? I have wiring diagrams.

Washer jet hose leaked over motor internally?

Hopefully it is ISO wiring behind. Usually is with this age Renault. They then usually use extra non-standard connectors for the extra connectivity.

I guess pollen filter probably gone skanky. Remember that this should have a heated windscreen. Unless its (likely) broken or replaced with a non-heated.

How many electric windows are working? I reckon 2.

Haven't checked any of them yet :D

SiC - I suspect the shimmy is lightly buckled wheels.

On the subject of heated windscreen I've read stuff suggesting you only get that on the V6!

Oh really?! I thought it was an Initalie spec thing. God I bet getting a replacement windscreen on mine will be fun*.

Might be wrong but I read it on a forum so it must be true*

Do you have a button for it or does it just come on with the blower demist button that sends full power to the windscreen?

Posted

It comes on with the front windscreen demisting function on the climate control. On mine, the wires in the windshield are clearly visible as very thin wiggly lines - like on Fords.

Ah right I don't think it has the wavy lines and I can normally see them quite strongly.

Does the head unit have a radio code like the Scenic or is it just coded to the ECU?

Posted

Radio code, but afaik it doesn't come with it printed. Iirc the manual (workshop or user, I forget) for the satnav says that it needs to be acquired from Renault. However it doesn't forget it when you remove the battery - my def didn't when I did a battery change.

Posted

OK that sounds good or terrible depending on how long it remembers it for :D

That multimeter is cool as fuck - I assume it costs a shit load?

Posted

Top buyage there. More Lagunas.

As previously mentioned the head unit wiring should ISO and so should be intact unless previous owner was some kind of Neanderthal and got chop happy.

Posted

Probably just didn't sound very good. The stock head unit in my Laguna 1 was terrible.

Posted

It's been over 24 hrs... has it FTP yet?

(I'd ask if it was broken but it's Laguna, so just in varied states of broken)

Posted

I drove it to my unit this morning, still fine. In Laandaan for work tonight and tomorrow so it'll need to wait til Thurs for the fettling to start.

If you need the radio code you can download free apps for your phone to get them, you just need a number off the side of the unit.

I can't recall the details though, google found it for me.
