Well, that was unexpected.

Right, after careful consideration and a desperate need to downsize, sadly the SAAB needs to go. It has MOT until the middle of next month and is taxed/insured to get you home.

There is around 186,600 miles on it, and it will need work to get through the next MOT, namely the exhaust manifold studs and a rear exhaust box as a bare minimum. It also lets water in when it's raining, I believe it's coming from the bottom of the windscreen seal but haven't sealed it yet.

Other downsides are the gear linkage is hilariously sloppy and I think the clutch is starting to slip. It also loses a little bit of water between top ups, believe it's the radiator itself as it's not mixing.

Really, it's rough as balls but runs and drives.

However...

There are deep dish three spoke alloys all round with good tyres, and it recent completed a trip to Portsmouth and back with no issue. There is also a stack of receipts with the car, two sets of keys and two fobs, as well as an oil filter and fuel filter to go with the car. The engines in these are a) good for many, many more miles, and B) used by Vauxhall fans for an engine conversion in their wikkid Corsa.

£250 takes it, however I'm open to insulting offers, I've recently moved jobs to Portsmouth so sadly I'm not able to give this motor the time and love it deserves. Had new spark plugs and a recent battery.

Car is located in Cornwall and is exactly as in the previous pictures. Will take a lower offer if the owner guarantees it's survival, I'm a sentimental old bugger like that.

Any more information, PM me, I'm not near the car during the week and I'd prefer it to go before the MOT runs out as it'll probably meet its maker by that point.

No offers as of yet.

G'wan, insult me.

BrotherHarris can assist with delivery a bit closer up the line if required.

£250 is far too cheap for those alloys on their own! Can you get another set of 9000 alloys to sell the car on and flog the Aero ones seperately?

Posted

That IS a possibility, I guess, I may look into it.

Ten days in and not a sniff of interest.

Is the price too high? This ideally needs to go before the MOT runs out or it'll be on a low loader by the end of the month, a most undignified end.

Wang it on ebay, some tit bought it for £425 last time, imagine the possibilities!

I am NOT selling it on eBay. Remember the Volvo fiasco? I'd sooner see it as bean cans.

Mebbe £4 a ticket roffle?

If not for current on-going insurance shenanigans I would honestly chance a ticket or two. But at £4 a pop it might attract some people who are umming and ahing.

They are great cars. Tried on uksaabs?

I may* be up for a roffle ticket or two if you go down that route.

I love 9000 but no room at the Inn at the moment. Roffle is always acceptable because that is just winning a car right...

Well, I had the car listed elsewhere as "Wheels for sale, free car included" and had some interest. Sadly, they decided it was too much of a project for them (despite listing it as fucking wheels for sale). So now I'm not home for a fortnight and the MOT expires whilst I'm away at work.

Fate sealed then. Shame.

Turns out the MOT doesn't expire until the 24th June.

First one to press £150 (ono) in my hands takes it away, including the wheels.

SAAB breakers the next village over offered me scrap value and couldn't even guarantee that I'd get to keep the wheels!

I would love to save this - especially after the saab chat before. Only getting rid of MGF tonight ... missus moog would kill me.

He asks stupidly - How quickly do you need it gone?

Posted

A 9000 is on my to-do list and this looks nice...sadly there's probably a 6-8 month wait before I would be in a position to rehome it.

Obviously, the right and proper thing to do is for Moog to purchase it, then for him to sell it to me in a few months.

Ideally before the MOT expires if only for the buyers convenience of transport but otherwise I'm flexible within reason. There may or may not be another car filling the spot in the future

Tried insurance company and they wanted either ££££ or just said No.

Really? Footman James charged me £160 FC on a classic policy, that's a shame.

I have to wait until December before I can get decent rates I think.

What do you reckon my Saab would look like with Aero wheels?  :-D

Good luck fitting 4-stud wheels to a 5-stud car.

Oh really? Arses.  Why change PCD?!?

It's insane no one's grabbed this.

I'll take it seeing as my Mondeo's barfed...

Bollocks, I missed this, sorry Keith, I've noticed your Aero on Facebook which looks lovely!

Now sold, and the owner has taken her away this afternoon.

Well, that's the end of that then.

Sad really, I don't think it would have taken much to get back on the road.4b84c0e808712b23c592c14807b0a5a5.jpg
