Does anyone want to know how to tweak a 200Tdi if you don't already know?

Four bits too it...

1) They run 12psi of boost standard, 300Tdis run 15psi so you can wind that up - I was running 21psi on mine, but the wastegate couldn't dump enough wound up that tight so I had to watch the boost gauge when powering up hills etc.

2) On the top of the fuel pump, if you remove the four screws & lift off that nearly square bit you find a diaphragm. This controls how the fuelling increases with boost, turn it clockwise a bit (I think 90 is max that works? might be 180 though) and it fuels quicker as the boost increases. Mine was turned about 30degrees, anymore gave silly smoke.

3) On top of that square bit there is an allen bolt & lock nut. This controls the base fuelling off boost. Wind it in a bit & they'll actually pull from idle like a diesel should. Again too much equals lots of smoke. This is the best mod as it makes them much better pulling away & creeping over large rocks.

4) On the back of the pump there is a lockwired rod, threaded with a screw driver slot in the end. This controls max power, turn it in to go faster. Like the rest, too much equals silly smoke.

Took me a couple of hours driving around fiddling when I tweaked mine years ago. I got away with 21psi of boost as I was also running a full width intercooler.

Worked great, I had a Disco on 32" mud tyres with about 1/2  ton of crap like winch, rock sliders, tools, spares etc & it'd outdrag a standard V8...

Why I remember it about a car I sold nine years ago is beyond me.

Out of interest, does this RR have the drilled final gear on the transferbox? I seem to recall this age had the LT230 transfer box that eats the end of the gearbox mainshaft if the crossdrilled gear isn't fitted. Although I can't recall if the autos suffered the same as the manual.

A big clonk when lifting the clutch in 1st & then reverse as the slack in the splines gets taken up is a give away.

Wow this is a right bargain. I love it in red too.

Did you have a v8 one in red at one point too?

Yes I did. Ahhh the noise, the sway, the horrendous fuel consumption  :-)

I remember that. It had red wheels didn't it? Did you sell it to breadfan9000?

It's got the BW type (high/low only) with a vicious coupling. The 'classics' did from about 89 onwards I think.

Yah. And Yah. This one is better underneath/better repaired.

I had a slight feeling RRs differed to LRs in that regard but I couldn't remember why. Cheers.

A bit on the expensive side unfortunately, about £90 for a one way ticket back to Kidderminster. :(

Paint is ok, tailgate has no holes! That I can see, upper or lower. I'll try and pyt more pics on today.

Fairly certain it's actually the rear diff/bearings. Seems a lot of movement before drive taken up (in diff).

Clunk is more lesser now avec new oil/proper idle speed.

Whine is whiny.

New lift pump does, as opposed to old one , which did sometimes.  :-)
