Everyone avoids me like a cyclone ranger

Everyone.

I'm turning Japanese.

Well, my driveway is. Or it would be if I parked them there.

Two japs acquired last week (and a south Korean) amongst my auction frenzy.

The only one that might warrant mention is this Feldmanesque impreza.

Only 51k miles and a good service history. It's the exotic 1.6 TS variety with a full 95 horseradish from the flat four powerhouse.

Despite the lack of grunt, it was entertaining working the rifle bolt gear changes to keep its legs at full canter on the back roads home. Most agreeable road manners.

No rust that I could see on this solid little wagon although there are a few marks commensurate with having previous lady drivers.

I thought I would be selling this post haste, but now having driven it, the bug-eyed one might be kept for the snocarnage.

Tam will be test driving it for a couple of days.

I like those - I had a 2.0 saloon which everyone thought was the turbot nutter version.  Nice drive.  I was amazed by the fact that mine had a cable and hydraulic clutch.  Would deffo have another, was gr3 in winter ice/snow too.

There was a recall on this generation Impreza a few years back. Front lower wish bones rot from the inside out.

I like those grandma edition Imprezzzzzas, love the extra gear whine in low range, which is perfect gearing for pretending to be Michelle Mouton down Herefordshire lanes.

That is without doubt my favourite body style on a Tri-Chevy.  56 was the first year it was offered, IIRC?

Correct - although some bloke in the US has made one from a '55.  Without hijacking the entire thread - they are a bugger to get sheetmetal parts for since everyone seems to want the 2 door convertible, coupe or the nomads. I like to think it's proper Autoshite - rare but not valuable/desirable - one of the least numerous Tri-Chevies, in "no one like those" RHD and it's shagged.

Trivia and slight thread relevance - saloons don't have low range, only estates for some reason.

Two clutch operating mechanisms? Subaru must have had a fit of the Vapors.

See what you did there sir!!! (If you don't get the gag - you aren't a child of the 70's).

Hence the thread title, in case anyone thought I was a cattle rustler or psyched Lone Ranger.

Tam reports that there is a smell of dog, although the seats are very clean.

He finds it lacks top end but has plenty grunt low down, which is the opposite of my impression. Maybe I'm too accustomed to diesels with their torquey power deliveries.

Isn't the cable / hyd clutch setup because of the crude hill hold system they have ?
