I can't comment on the cambelt as it only actually got used for 3-4 months whilst I owned it

Did give it new front pads though, and I do seem to have a nice set of genuine rubber mats for it here..ahem

Typical isn't it. Pre-1997 cars appear to have become the rarest things on the road, at least in my price range. So what do I do? Sell my Rover.

Please feel free to kick me in the bollocks whenever you see me. I'd do it myself but I can't.

Maybe but eBay and Gumptree are yielding very little likely stuff. All a bit poo really.

1953 was a good year for bikes ;-)

Well the blue Mitsu has gone to live with The Moog family up North and the Green Rover has gone to live with Tony and I am assured that much love will be directed towards in over the next few months.

As above,I have now done the dastardly deed and relieved purplebargeken of the "mean greenie" kettle series Rover. Boy what a day to pick to go cross-country chelmsford to Northampton!, road closures, detours, M11 blocked at A120 and traffic everywhere, just another normal day on our roads I suppose! Still the good news is the Rover behaved and performed extremely well. Only one sweaty-bum moment when caught in a lengthy queue the temp gauge rose alarmingly up to the 3/4 mark but then I heard the fan cut in and within 2 mins it was back to normal.... I will give it a good going over during the week and keep you shiters informed! watch this space!....................Oh, and thanks again,Ken.

these kettles are probably just old enuff to have a temp gauge that actually does move away from normal before the fan reinstates the status quo

Still with me. Awaiting clip and an O ring to secure one pipe going to the thermostat housing.

I replaced the housing as it was weeping slightly. Might stay, but if someone wants it......

They are usually super duper quick when the online option is used.

Yes! found a real puzzle of an earthing problem concerning the back lights, would never have found it had it not been for my boy telling me that at one particular junction on the ride back he nearly ran up my arse cos he could hardly detect the brake lights. After some serious and puzzling investigation turned out to be a dodgy earth pin on both rear light units, fixed by introducing separate earth cables from the unit earthing metal tracer directly to self-tapping points  in the boot on each side,no problem now. Today I,ve cleaned up that rusty hole on the tailgate slam panel  with some perforated zinc and fibreglass. If er indoors doesn,t need me tomorrow I will prime and paint , I have a new aerosol of the correct green left over from my Tourer! Have also posted a request on Rover 200 forum for a drivers door card, dont hold much hope for that though!

Nice bit of detective work.

I always thought that they were just quite dark lenses.

I struggled with the door card. I thought of getting a cabrio one and using magic to meld the two bits together somehow. Never quite managed to get started on that.

Good progress Sir.

A msge for Cavcraft, re 214 your thoughts regarding the cambelt were proved right! Amongst the wad of paperwork I found a receipt for cambelt replacement 6 years ago at 41000mls!

Quick update on the "Green Machine". Drivers door card is off now while I try to effect a repair, may be too far gone though. I thought I was sitting too low so had a look-see and discovered part of the seat frame which holds the cushion taught at the rear was broken! Quick bit of welding by my mate after whipping the seat out has seen the seating position(and the comfort) re-instated! Also started to clean up the engine bay a little, pics to follow soon........Promise!!!!
