Rare to see a Princess 2200 these days without a hole in the roof and a water-logged interior

It was quite beautiful actually with the flying plughole emblazoned on the mudflaps and no obvious signs of grot, but the Hydragas looked a bit soggy. Tax only out in September.

A very knackered Niva, tax expired in 2003.

What a wonderful wedge!

Isn't it just! lurve the colour 8)

gorgeous princess!! I'd have been knocking on their door. Even got the right number plates..

Posted

Oh my giddy aunt. Just perfect. Almost lost for words. I assume it wasn't for sale?

Posted

Gosh, that princess is lovely. I wouldn't have been able to resist making enquiries about that one. I would like to sample some 70's British executive transport next summer and I'm torn between one of these and a P6.

Posted

Making enquiries next time I'm over there, unfortunately we had no time. :(

That wedge is a real honey, doubly impressive as it's on its original (Inverness area?) registration. Most stuff that age north of the border nowadays has come from down south. I think there's a REALLY rusty Scottish one somewhere on the Austin Princess website but the work internet filter won't let me onto it, rats' tits.

Posted

Yeah, that's an Inverness plate. Inverness is 90 miles away so not too local, but it's still northern Scotland. It's interesting to see the 'plate-whored' cars south of the border ending up with 'AS', etc. plates.

SUM RECENT SPOTZ

Posted Image

Wasn't the first thing I was expecting to find down a mine, an Austin A30 or A35! There was another one buried in rubble, along with a Mini.

Posted Image

Posted Image

R11, last taxed in 1997

Posted Image

Posted Image

BX 19RD, last taxed in 2002, looked tidy enough apart from creeping sill/floor rot due to its location

Posted Image

2-door Ascona

Posted Image

Very tidy probably one-owner boggo Ovlov on 13" steelies!

Posted Image

OMG RATLUK Fiesta

Posted

R11's held up remarkably well after being idle for so long! Wonder what the floor's like mind

Posted

HTF did the A35 find itself down a mine...?!?

:?:o

Posted

Looking at the state of it, I'd wager that A30 got shoved down a mine many years ago. Looks like it bounced a few times on the way down too. Where abouts was that R11?

Posted

The R11 was near Glenfinnan.I suspect the A30/5 was dumped there by an employee because it's a very remote part of the country and getting rid of knackered cars must have been a pain.

Posted

Great spots! As MK2 said, I was surprised to read for how long the R11 has been off the road - I like the colour too :D Where about up north are you based - I lived in Inverness for a while in 2005 and noticed quite a few quality shite cars still in use, such as an R18 and MK1 Festy 8)

Some phone memory card dumping skillz

Marina Sun-Tor spotted at Halfords

Posted Image

Lancia Dedra estate on a dealer's lot, sorry for the shit photo - it was gone when I passed in the daytime

Posted Image

Scamells on the Isle of Mull, I imagine they're great for negotiating its single track roads

Posted Image

Shitey abandoned caravan next to shitey abandoned bungalow, also on Mull

Posted Image

Appalling Proton, Ardnamurchan. Its boot was held on with baling twine

Posted Image

Unimogs

Posted Image

Maserati Karif, I'd never heard of one before - they must have sold about 2. It's sitting next to a long-abandoned '90s Galant, possibly destined for the same fate

Posted

Nice spots! These are my faves :D

Did these all come in this colour?

This must qualify as the rarest of shite in the UK??

That Lancia Dedra wagon is up for £4995! Still sitting there unsold not surprisingly

Anyway, here are some horrors from today...

Posted Image

Posted Image

Mazda B1800, I think it's just been pulled out of the field as I've never seen it before! It is a bit rotten.

Posted Image

Renault truck

Posted Image

MAN 'bendy-bus'

Posted Image

Not sure what this is, but it did have a funky instrument panel

Posted Image

Posted Image

Austin Redline camper conversion - it had blue lights on the front, so ex-ambulance maybe? Its reg is 'MUG 999D' which might be a bit too obvious.

Posted Image

Interesting caravan nearby

Posted Image

Bilgey Granada

Posted Image

Leyland bus - I think it was used for driver training late in its life as it had a second set of pedals behind the driver compartment

I bet it was a fun thing to learn in!

This thing has quite a challenging front-end, no idea what it is

I love that last bus .Were these last spots near Glasgow? some have Glasgow numberplates such as the Renault truck with 'DS' n the letters.Just looked back at the prev page and interestingly the thoroughly dead looking BX is currently taxed. The enquiry is completeThe vehicle details for G561 TSE are:Date of Liability 01 05 2009Date of First Registration 31 08 1989Year of Manufacture 1989Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1905CCCO2 Emissions Not AvailableFuel Type Heavy OilExport Marker Not ApplicableVehicle Status SORN Not DueVehicle Colour REDVehicle Type Approval nullThe information contained on this page is correct at the time of enquiry.Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle 6 Months Rate £101.7512 Months Rate £185.00 Last photographed sitting on its brake disks in a field/moor and now on the road?

Posted

It's not taxed, it's just SORN'd.

Vehicle Status SORN Not Due

Strange that someone is keeping up with the SORN though, don't you have to notify the DVLA every year or something?Everything apart from the Mazda is in Aberdeen shire.

It is of course a 1952 Leyland Royal Tiger PSU1 with Alexander bodywork :)

Here is a picture of one from the same batch, possibly even the same one, in happier times:

I knew that anorak would come in useful some day

Nice work alfisti! fotorabia - the Proton was actually in Kilchoan. I guess the Scammels were there to pull tourists out of the scenery when they overcooked it on the treacherous roads. :D My grandmother was born in Strontian.

Those are truly cracking Scottish Bus finds.I am a member of the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust and I am certain that there would be several members keen to know more about them, esp the last one, as it looks remarkably original, comparing it to the photo of the example in happier times. As Northern was part of the Alexander empire at the time, all buses received Falkirk registrations 'WG' in this case.

I wonder what that's doing over here, left-hand-drive of course with the doors on our offside. Possibly used airside or something?
