Went out for a rolly to watch, no smoke at all! Dunno if it's actually passed though... Its gone into the ramps now.

Say if I'm boring you and I'll stop! That's the bit I was worrying about the most out of the way... Waiting for them to come and say it's swallowed the jack next

Congrats. I've noticed the air quality maps in southern England have already registered a little improvement!

Now a year's trouble-free* motoring ahead. Splash out on some fresh spheres as a Xmas pressie for the old girl.

Well done. I see a paperwork balancing exercise was done:

Reason(s) for failure

nearside front Side repeater not working (1.4.A.2c)

Electrical wiring insecure Battery terminals loose. (1.9.2a)

Posted

PRS- pass rectification at station . Most likely thumped the side repeater and tightened the battery terminal / cable tied the wires for him

Its done that way so VOSA can gather infomation about what the cars actually get presented like so they gather statistics

Yeah, my garage do that all the time with stuff like bulbs. They just charge for the bulb part cost and put it straight through again.

Oh yeah I've seen those stats - very interesting when you look at what cars fail their first test on and stuff like that

The DVLA site came up first, then he came over and said the indicator bulb wasnt working, and the terminal was loose, so we went out. The bulb wasn't working, but putting it in and out a few times got life (it worked fine before it went in as I changed it at the side of the road at the last MOT and had the same issue!) the old bulb was corroded in...quick squirt of WD40 and in and out a bit and its working now. Both battery clamps were loose, so he undid them, screwdrivered them open a bit, pushed them onto the clamp then nipped it up. job jobbed!

Hang on, i'll do the emissions sheet, bit more there too...

Here we go. I'll start by saying I didn't care he did it as a non turbo with a lower limit as it passed, had it been 2.55 and failed I'd have bought it up but look, that number is nearly half of what it was! Thanks Arthur

And thank you everybody else! For following the journey, offering advise and assistance! We got there in the end.

I can crack on with next year now! Spheres will be tested and replaced as needed, hydraflush, new tyres, welding etc

Advisory wise:

ARB linkage has slight play in a ball joint - meh, sounds easy

Fluid suspension pipe has corosion - it possibly does, when I get under there to do the suspension I'll clean them up

Subframe corroded but not weakened on the rear - yep, it is that

Front wheel bearing slight play - can't hear it, will have a look at that next year.

Nothing worrying at all. Next years test should just be a formality!

The only bastard now is where he had the battery out the radio wants the code. I have the code, can enter it but cannot remember the button to push to get it to accept it, and the handbook is at home...
