tooSavvy Posted October 8, 2018 Author Posted October 8, 2018 Bit of 'digital caliper action' shows my new pipe to be 55mm O/D [2mm wall] = 51mm I/D AFAIK my factory pipe is 46mm O/D but as I'm going to need 'wiggle room' for the correct alignment after the axle... I reckon a good splodge of paste + extreme tightening should see everything secured  Clamps £1.60 @Halfrauds. Can't beat the price online with post added Jim Bell and loserone 2
tooSavvy Posted October 9, 2018 Author Posted October 9, 2018 Nice warm blowy day today.... Up the ramps & out with the rust-buster gear.   I will get liquimetal to attach something to bridge that perforation... Not going to fill with wobb!

tooSavvy Posted October 9, 2018 Author Posted October 9, 2018 The repair will be 'cold' m8 [... like my beer!]
tooSavvy Posted October 11, 2018 Author Posted October 11, 2018 OK.... We Have It ALL !! Â ..... nothing keeping me back on the Ex but rains
tooSavvy Posted October 12, 2018 Author Posted October 12, 2018 Had a good rummage thru my 'scrappy auld shite/never find any use for..' box and have sufficient angle to construct the mounting bracketry. I don't want a U-bolt on the tailpipe with a spar, disappearing up under the rear end... I'm going to take a mount off the oval body by wrapping a rib round it with an eye, then bolt to the hanger. These 'sleeves' are available online = too much ££ Neat & Factory look Jim Bell 1
Jim Bell Posted October 12, 2018 Posted October 12, 2018 But will it make the faster and more aggressive?
tooSavvy Posted October 12, 2018 Author Posted October 12, 2018 But will it make the faster and more aggressive?... what do you take me for.... OBVIOUSLY
tooSavvy Posted October 15, 2018 Author Posted October 15, 2018 Yo... Sun OUT!! Chopped up my exhaust, now have a bend + clamp/slip joint.  It is straight through and a perforated/glass pack.  Started on an 'edge clamp' - grips the 'bean tin rim' flange edge of box   .... nothing holding me back now .... Jim Bell 1
tooSavvy Posted October 16, 2018 Author Posted October 16, 2018 Good tools [should...] last a lifetime!  .... Not quite a lifetime but last used on my 3potta 1L Suzuki Swift. 15yr ago!! When the exhaust opens up I'm going to retune the carb and check the running advance [13° with nothing unplugged]. Rather looking forward to 'non laptop tuning' egg and Jim Bell 2
tooSavvy Posted October 18, 2018 Author Posted October 18, 2018 After thorough webbi price comparisoning.... Tool Station are the winners!! 1M of 8mm threaded bar = £1.99 Need a piece for the cross bar, inserted into the rubber bobbins. Bend it to suit + lock solid... Done! Jim Bell 1
tooSavvy Posted October 20, 2018 Author Posted October 20, 2018 Direct Line have pongged me another *years cover. £197... Which is £3.50 less than last year  *also just taken out our House Cover at a big saving/existing customer.. egg 1
Jim Bell Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 Insurance going DOWN?!? This may be a portent of the apocalypse. rainagain, tooSavvy and Junkman 3
tooSavvy Posted October 20, 2018 Author Posted October 20, 2018 Insurance going DOWN?!?This may be a portent of the apocalypse.I think I observed earlier in this thread... "The only classic Toyota is the Celica" was the view of 'specialist' underwriters. .... That's me told then Jim Bell 1
tooSavvy Posted October 21, 2018 Author Posted October 21, 2018 Video of 'before Exhaust' has been done, in Tesco carpark this morning. Sounds extremely QUIET, really!! Got me proper intreagued as to what my Bodger is going to *top-out at  *Full chat may prove a tad gross... https://youtu.be/cjEL6SuFSHM Jim Bell 1
tooSavvy Posted October 23, 2018 Author Posted October 23, 2018 TODAY: I will be mostly.....   .... Bit of a marathon job. All straightforward/expected tasks but the pipe goes OVER the rear susp frame so tricky to centre equally/no knocking... Corolla goes through the centreline UNDER the suspension pivots... Much more straightforward :/ Sounds just right, muted burble and it seems to scream up to 7k with renewed vigour egg, Jim Bell and brandersnatch 3
tooSavvy Posted October 23, 2018 Author Posted October 23, 2018 .... and a quick trip BACK UP the ramps, for some further 'slight' clamp/knock jiggling :/Â Quick road test = humminnn Aye brandersnatch, Jim Bell and egg 3
egg Posted October 23, 2018 Posted October 23, 2018 How much do you reckon you've spent on her Sav during your ownership, must be buttons in the scheme of things? Jim Bell and tooSavvy 2
tooSavvy Posted October 23, 2018 Author Posted October 23, 2018 £350 fitted dampers (I supplied parts, so that's all in) £100 Wheels + new Landsail about £40ea £70 on engine mounts + £17 'super bond filler' to solid them up £35 for this ex + clamps £14 new Corolla auto radiator £350 for the car..... egg 1
tooSavvy Posted October 24, 2018 Author Posted October 24, 2018 any recent pics?.... other than in this thread, you mean?
tooSavvy Posted October 31, 2018 Author Posted October 31, 2018 Since 'barrying' the back box I have a verrrry annoying 'clunk' from the bootfloor region.... I gave everything a good Heave-Ho after fitting but, after going under earlier, I'm suspicious it is swaying and clouting the tie bar bolt/bracket FUCKSTIKS... Grrr  However I have all sorts of bracketry in my 'scrap/rummage box' so.....   We Will *See  *hoonfactor9 = no knock Winnah! rainagain 1
tooSavvy Posted November 2, 2018 Author Posted November 2, 2018 Just popped for a 0-30hg Vac gauge 50mm, £3.73 Amazon free del. This is the idea....  This will be for doing the carb tune... Not paying £15 for a Draper jobbie. I will splice into the dizzy vac tubing for correct manifold vac
tooSavvy Posted November 6, 2018 Author Posted November 6, 2018 Ohhh... I'm in esteemed company  My oil filter also fits a C1 Common as muck then.. let's see if prices are base too!Â
tooSavvy Posted November 6, 2018 Author Posted November 6, 2018 £5 oil filter. Meh.. My high ramps won't fit under the lip spoiler   The highly efficient 'air streaming' under tray is GR9 except when you need to reach up to unscrew the oil filter... A neat hacksaw slot resolves the issue, in true DIY fashion   .... let the dog see the rabbit ....  Sorted Jim Bell 1
Jim Bell Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 How are unhacksawing the undercroft at the end of play man. Junkman and tooSavvy 2
tooSavvy Posted November 6, 2018 Author Posted November 6, 2018 ..... a couple of cable ties, like bootlacing, would put it back to 'near factory'. Not that I did lyke
Jim Bell Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Extra points if you could use actual boot laces. tooSavvy 1
tooSavvy Posted November 9, 2018 Author Posted November 9, 2018 Dunno..... Threatening ToMM with the oil + filter, she looks a smidge Y tho  You reckon.. ? Jim Bell and egg 2
