Anyone want a Bosch ZX 1.9TD from near Derby for JUST £50? - Sold!

Following a virtual handshake with Bub over the phone, I am the next custodian of the Xantia of Many Shiters!!!

This is excellent news, however, I have a baggy Boschtastic ZX 1.9td to get rid of now.

I'm at work, so not going to launch into a massive for sayle thread now, but, want to get the logistics started.

Basically, my idea is:

Plan A - If anyone wants the ZX, with it's stiff steering UJ, slightly shaky under hard braking brakes, white wing, good tyres and MOT until Jan the 15th, who lives near/can easily get to bub2006/Derby, for £50, come and talk to me! I can then drive it north and drive back in the Xant

Plan B - Bub said he will come and fetch me for £alot less than the train fare, but then the ZX is still in oxfordshire, and I'll have to sell it for £50 the normal way

So if any shiter fancies a baggy ZX, and lives near Derby/can get to Derby/en route enough for me to drive most of the way there then be relayed up the rest of the way, speak up!

More details RE ZX can be given when I'm home later, I just want to get the idea out there!

Are you doing the swap at the weekend? If so nip into Coventry whilst enroute from Thame, grab £50 in notes from me and I'll run you up to Derby in a slower ZX.

I like this plan alot! Will need to check Bub's weekend availability though. Want me to regale you with the specifics of the ZX later?

I've had a mooch through your thread, its £50, mot'ed, whats not to like! Can only do this at weekend though as work nights. If you get a more convenient offer feel free to take it, won't be offended, but the offer of a lift in the shiny one at the weekend stands if it fits in with Bubs plans

It makes most sense to me too! Saves messing about on a train. I'll text bub in a bit, he was driving to leicester when I rang him earlier this morning!

I'd best get it emptied! It's still covered in SF Mud though, and needs a good hoover inside.

Sold in 64 minutes. Must challenge for quickest sale ever.

It best be showroom condition and fully serviced beforehand....I mean it is FIFTY WHOLE POUNDS of money.

Seriously, fifty quid for a vehicle that's got a ticket till 2017? Epic. :D

Does it come with a warranty m8?

Yes, a full cavcraft spec 200 yard warranty, backed up by Quentin Wilson!

Snapped up by Dean, which makes collecting the Xant much easier!

200 yds?so that will get it roughly from the road to its parking space, perfect!

Well thatll learn ya! I'm sure Dean could be persuaded to part with it for £60...

Bastard. I was in meetings all morning!

Unless they were meetings about buying a ZX for £40 then I'd say you lost out ;)

This thread is brilliant. Car sold in an hour, plus delivery and collection plan, all in one go.

Got to love Autoshite!

Will be nice to actually put some names to faces at last.

Will be interesting to drive a boosted XUD! And luckily, the people who boosted it live right here so I can understand how it works easily!

Spent the morning reading Angyl's original thread too, looks like the rust has come back in full force though. Bub, how does it look under the tape? I presume past a quick tidy up? Sure I can find a local welder person to give it a tidy up though

It's a common rust spot due to citroen filling the void with foam and using a bung to fill a hole in the inner arch if I remember correctly. There's a thread on the French car forum about it and the causes. I had two xantias years ago when they were considered newish. Great cars and so comfy. Managed to crack 60mpg on the sd version on a run to Edinburgh once.

I read about that in Vulg's original thread.

What I suppose I really want to know is will it get MOT Failable? IE I know people who should know someone who can weld for a bit of beer money/can arrange to meet up with a sparkley stick wielding shiter one weekend, but I probably wont have that bit of beer money straight away, and if I can limp it through for a bit with maybe some white gaffa tape on it whilst I save a bit of money, do I HAVE to do it by the MOT in 3 months time or will it be ok as long as it's not sticky outey?

The last MOT I put my Puma through the garage doing it filled the rusty hole in the arch with sealent and it went through without an advisory, so I know it can be done, it's just the position on the xantia

Of course it could just be a rusty bleb which Bub has protected from the elements, in which case I'll limp it on with some rust treatment and spray paint until a more permanant fix can be achieved, but money is tight atm, hence paying for it monthly!

If you look at FOADS pics its not to bad, and im sure he had it before bub did.

I repaired it with bits of Alfa, that probably wasn't the cleverest idea.  It's not as bad as it could be because there was no foam in the void on this one luckily.  It needs someone to just cut it back further than I did and stick a few fresh patches in, if it's dealt with this year it shouldn't get gallopingly bad.  I was surprised at how solid overall the car was for it's age and badge, that arch was the only corrosion of note.  Oh, and the roof paint which is down to a design flaw with the roof bar bracketry which traps water and lets it get under the paint which is a bit of an arse.

With your cleaning abilities you'll have it looking top notch in no time.  In stock tune it was great for surprising taxis because of the absurd cornering ability it has and in Chompy-tune it was like driving a petrol car.  I keep an eye on this one because in a strange sort of way I miss it but don't want to own it again.  Xantia (and BX) estates have a special corner in my heart.

All I can say is under the tape it looks slightly religious

It's just struck me that the Xantia is a bit like a cross between Beko's old XM and current ZX. Quite cool, I thought 8)
