I'm watching out for one of these for my idiot brother (no, not that one...), but looking for a minging end-of-lifer at about £200.

Shame this one well above our pay grade but I'm sure it's worth it.

Aaaah my first car! Just with working aircon (not chopped off pipes) and a 1.4 not 2.0Hdi

GLWS, Fond memories of mine (and not so fond, crashed it twice and hit a deer.. then it was set on fire on my mums drive one night)

Yes me too, was hoping for a price tag of under £350, never mind, local too, glwts and all that.

Mrs TW has had one from new.

Non French reliability, costs buttons to run and she loves it.

A mediocre drive if you ask me (but no one does.)

From mammary you can squeeze big mpg out of these.

That'll help mitigate any repair bills.

 hit a deer..

Funny you should say that

No, I agree with you there and its why its not staying here at Chez Womble...

The Pug of Many Miles is one of these and will hit 70mpg easily. Even using it mostly in town fails to drag it below 60mpg.

They're also long-lived - mine's on 170k and doing 25-30k a year at the mo. This one is actually very low mileage for one of these on sub 90k - most that you see advertised are 150k-plus.

Verdict: Best cheap-to-run hack car ever, especially once you've got used to the driving position.

Full set of pictures here - its a "public" album, even if you dont do FB they can be seen.

I'll add a picture of the service history when I photograph it.

One owner ( MIL) and supplying dealer from new. Ive been pottering about in this and it drives very well and seems to sip fuel.

Service History - last invoice was a biggie

Costs the square root of naff all for me, so it's definitely worth a look at meerkats, opera singers etc.

While we're on the subject of low costs, has anyone mentioned OMG£30TAX yet?

That looks a cracking buy for someone with all that history and what not, with air con, elec Windows and a CD player, Shirley that's all you will ever need.

Possibly the least painful sale of ever.

Bloke saw on Gumtree, bloke emailed, bloke phoned, bloke asked sensible questions, bloke turned up with wife, asked more sensible questions, bloke offers sensible price, left full asking price took for drive, came back signed V5 and drove off.

Bloke came back 5 mins later and picked up wife......
