When did colour fall out of fashion?

Even the few colours are shit now, insipid, dull as fuck.

People are like bloody sheep, you couldn't give a white car away 10 years ago now because its fashionable its just wonderful dahling.

Don't get me started on metallic white, its just wrong, Lexus cars look awful now since they employed a work experience kid who wears a back to front baseball cap designing 'em with default unsold body kits from helfords, white metallic makes them much easier* on the eye.

I see what you mean about modern cars all being silver and colourless.

I reckon Vulgalour must be one of those social media influencers, 'cos I've just been on the Fiat 500 configurator website.  I want a twinair Pop Star in Glam Coral.  Unfortunately it's £13950, somewhat beyond my £500 budget, so I'll have to stick with the doom blue Rover.

It's a pink Ka so of course it's got a Powered By Fairy Dust sticker on the back.

My thoughts entirely Vulg! I believe we are through the hideous phase of 'all silver.' Folk have tired of never being able to find their car in a car park.

Dunno why, but we don't see too many SEATs round these here parts; shedloads of Skodes, Poxalls and Mercs, though.  Go figure.  Must be the distribution of distributors, IYSWIM.

Anyway... when Dugong's Leonard was parked outside Chaseracer Towers last week, I thought how good it looked in the metal, bright red and with a sensible wheel/rubber ratio.  Verdict: WOOD.

You don't see many coloured coded interiors like above anymore . Bmw went through a phase of offering it in the late 90's. I remember seeing a green 3 series with a green interior and almost couldn't believe what I was seeing it was so awful

What I don't like about moderns is that all models look the same. For example years ago an XR3i clearly stood out from a 1.3L because of the fogs, alloys and colour coded bumpers, but now all cars seem to have the above, so a low spec Fiesta or Focus looks like a so called sporty one.

Jazzy colours are available but our roads are still full of blacks and silvers, hence why my primrose Rover stands out so much, and its just a pale yellow, not bright orange.

My Blingo is pretty much identical to this one...

...which was a very popular (i.e. almost default) colour at the time.  Now the numbers are thinning out, it's beginning to stand out a bit.

This is our Bini.

Picture demonstrates Junkman's point pretty well, and I concur.

Even so, we only have one in red due to availability issues with auto Binis in general, as well as our budget (given the choice I think Mother Ghosty would have had a white/cream one, and had to learn to love red).

We also have pretty much the only regularly used coloured car on our street. Typically we keep it in the garage, and the A4 is silver so it doesn't even seem so.

There are about 35 houses on our road, most with 1-3 cars, and I can think of a total of 5 coloured cars on the whole road:

-W reg Seat Ibiza .cool/s: giffers, kept garaged. Purple.

-1965 Mini Cooper - kept garaged, other cars both boring modern Renners.

-Audi A3 2.0TDI quattro. Kept on a drive but I think they've PX'd it for an S3... in appliance white.

-the Bini - still here and gets used daily

-2005 Honda FRV, blue, sits festering in a carport behind a 3 series coupe and a shit Kia

All the other cars on the road are black, silver, or appliance white. There used to be a few coloured ones about but they've pretty much died out over the past ten years - as well as a reduction in shite (red MG ZT, bright green Avantime, yellow convertible New Beetle, Mini Sprite, etc)... all gone in favour of Kias, Fords and Audis in dull colours.

Neighbours have three cars that are a silvery gold which isn't silver and one green, other neighbours have two black cars, next to them a bright blue Mazda 2. Over the road, a stunningly magenta Kia. I own nothing silver. I dislike silver. Except on BMW E46 coupes.
