Did the original Maxusususus come with factory dents? Everyone I've seen on the road from roughly brand new seemed to have roof dents and pogweasel paint

Looks like there has been one improvement - photos on the Irish website show the gear lever on the dash rather than a floor mounted one just like every other van made in the past 15 years (unlike the original Maxus)

A dash mounted change is never an improvement.

Spec says 6 speed manual and 136PS, just 1 engine option, so it in theory should shift, especially in swb form

Told the gaffer at the van hire that these were back (after spotting an old Luton bodied one being run by our competitor).  Suffice to say that we won't be buying any no matter how cheap they are.

Our 10 plate beavertail Maxus has just had the best part of 7 grand spent on it- fully rebuilt engine, new decals, new wheels (alloys £59 quid each from LDV). Has been a great little truck for us with the Rodger Dyson bed and air suspension on it- and 7 large would buy a dodgy Transit with a homemade back so the decision was taken to put it back to better than new- all caused by a dodgy glowplug. It looks brand new and ready for another quarter million miles. We may be looking to purchase a crewcab chassis cab if they bring them over here...

As STUNO said, they've been on sale in NZ for a couple of years now and they do appear to be filling the void somewhat, now that Mitsubishi only stopped selling the L300 here last year (!!), which was previously the miser Kiwi's van of choice.

Click on the amazing Youtube videos at http://ldv.co.nz for gushing owner testimonies. Fair play, some of them are doing well - one's on 350000km and it's an auto, too. The first video about crash protection is quite inconclusive (and terrible), I must admit.

According to videos on their NZ YouTube channel the new ldv van (not maxxus) produces 165Kw which equates to roughly 220bhp. That's a lot for a van!

Maxus always had dash-mounted gear stick; Convoy and Pilot which it replaced had floor-mounted until the end (in 2005?)

Looks like you're right enough - fhe gearbox was still painfully shite in the Maxarse but I must be thinking of something else
