Now I did see a Triumph 2000 (like) car 2 weeks ago in Staines that was in the morning traffic and was quite ratty looking but all I recall is that these was a matt gray colour to it - it might have had red and yellow bits but just can't recall.I did see a gray Renault 25 traveling towards Thorpe park from Staines last Sunday.

Good stuff there, j-j, your Weegie photos always have me trying to work out what side of the river they were taken!

Have you spoted the "I'm a Scot who wants to be back in Scotland but work's forced me down here against my will longterm" type person yet? They can usually be found with a Herald/Scotsman/Daily Record under their arm!

-didn't realise you were an ex-weegie! Can you tell where the Regatta was taken? (clue: it was south side)
I'm not quite a weegie, I'm from near Dumbarton, and I went to Uni in Glasgow, and have visited auctions and scrapyards all around there!

Now, the Regatta, I reckon it's somewhere on Paisley Road West or that region; I can understand the excitement of seeing it but what about the Spitfire/GT6 3 along from it?

Posted Image

The Mini looks sort of Dumbarton Road-ish, maybe even Partick, judging by the colour of the tenaments - don't tell me wherethey were taken if I'm wrong, I'll try to find it on Google Maps/streetlevel.

however I did get directions from a lovely young lady cyclist with a lovely accent

More importantly, did you get her phone number?

Me neither - I'm originally from near Lanark in the stix. Right I'm afraid incorrect locations! for both cars. Mild clue: the Regatta was right out side a GSF branch. and the Mini was not much further away (1/2 mile?) As for the Spit, yes it is technically a spot but I was not certain it was quite shite (see! actual quality sifting goes on with my spotting!) and also the owner was standing right next to it looking unwelcoming so I decided to lower the camera...

More importantly, did you get her phone number? Twisted Evil

- no! because I was chasing a lovely blonde lady living in the same apartment block here! Happy daze

There's one of those in the PRW area isn't there?:wink:

I've made that mistake before! Yir Nat King's yir Nat King, if it's not guarantteed, it's always a good idea to not put all your eggs in the one basket, so to speak.
Posted

- yes, I do agree there..Anyway - not PRW, sorry I mislead. It's south side, a main artery, leading near due south. Are you sure you don't just want me to say?

Posted

No, there's no need! I was totally wrong about the Mini(I just couldn't remember Old Red Sandstone buildings south of the Clyde, but they're bloody everywhere! Not Kinning Park region/Ibrox?), but on the Regata's location I know I was close enough to where I had in mind... It's been 11 years since I last lived in Scotland.

That's bizarre that is.My mate Colin lives in Rosneath, right near Dumbarton. That 605 used to belong to my mate teH Scottish Andy, also from Glasgow.Strange.

**THOUGHT I'D DUST OFF MY OLD SPOTTINGS THREAD!**

I just don't seem to find the oppo to take snaps these days

But today while sitting in the snow-induced gridlock I spotted this 2 door yello Cortina - shite photo of course, nearly missed it - had silver-on-black 'plates - legal for this year??

Posted Image

Next is this shite colour scheme BMW

BX

Posted Image

Really nice Mk1 Fester snapped at a services on M1 (few months ago) spoke to the driver - he has more. I liked this because although lowered (something I like anyway) it was otherwise standard and was in very nice original nick. Also in excellent H.A.B colour 8)

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

And to continue the shite 3series in ghey colour, this stopped for a bit outside our house one sunday of late

Posted Image

Can't tell from the crappy pic but it was all faded unevenly and was actually quite a bright (in parts) blue..

All for now - must take more snaps!! (New Year's resolution)

Posted

I like the Fiesta, seems to work lowered but still with the high/standard profile tyres.

I thought I'd pump in a few spots before this old thread fossilises

So, there is this one street that I have passed a good few times - it's one of those streets that just seems to be a hotspot for grot. There ALWAYS seems to be something interesting on it (usually unmoved for weeks)

I finally got a few snaps.

First up is this interesting Transit 'unit vehicle'(?) or mobile lab thing - Something really endearing about a sort of shit office on wheels with all the aesthetic quality of a portacabin (I happen to actually LIKE prefab buildings)

Posted Image

Side

Posted Image

Right behind the tranny is this Landy pickup

Posted Image

Like I say, it's a sort of hotspot this street. At the same place as taking the tranny and Landy pics looking the other way reveals something not to be missed.

Posted Image

Be ready for a blooo Viva coop

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

This was obviously the spot of the street - it's been there for a few weeks unmoved seemingly. Had a quick look around it and it is fairly good nick - lots of 'scene' type stickers and a rallye plaque on the front (Glasgow-Monte Carlo?) might check that out.

Then, this that has been there even longer and doesn't seem to have moved at all either.

Posted Image

Looking up the street

Posted Image

And as ever, a snap of my bikeshite

Posted Image

-let it be known that there is a fokker of a hill to ascend to reach this street!

Anyway, there had been an XM estate here too for yonks but it has vanished in the last fortnight so I thought I'd get these in before any of the others go too.

Sorry all for now.

Posted

Viva is amazing.....is it a Magnum? or a Firenza? I can never tell... They are slowly becoming one fo my favourite shapes of the early 70s.That street looks nice too

Posted

Cool innit. Forgot to look what version it was but it's possible that the monogram is 'Firenza' ? The street is actually a bit grotty - nice high traditional Glesga tenements but there's a lot of litter and shite around here - further along there is a boarded up townhouse for some reason (you'd think a townhouse would be the sort of thing that annoying-ass professional couples would be gnawing over but this one's condemned-looking)The view is quite good too - not so much from street level but the top level of those flats must be pretty good as it's already up on high ground here.Anyway, I'm gonna get more spots soon (I know I always say that..)

Posted

I'm sure it is a Frenzia, I saw this 1800 at a show last year, I seem to remember it being for sale for a lot of money, Bloody lovely mind.

Posted Image

Posted

Would be a Firenza that year, the Magnum was a saloon and the Viva E came out in '75 using the old Firenza shalls Vauxhall had kicking about the place.

Posted

Again!

Where are they all coming from? Spotted this other Viva today!

Posted Image

Then my cameraphone went wrong - was on bike so didn't have the big camera but OMG! another bloooo viva?

  • 4 weeks later...
Posted

Something's going one here - after the two blue Vivas I spot nothing of interest for weeks then today I'm going past the site of Blue viva No. 2 and see......

a Viva. a RED one!! where are they all coming from?

Here it is:

Posted Image

Posted Image

And the blue one is still there! it has moved too

Posted Image

Other spots of today:

Good nick Cortina near me

Posted Image

Posted Image

CX - not mine!

Posted Image

Posted Image

And behind it - this camper appealed to me greatly

seems well cared for.

Posted Image

Back a day! Sat morning I took the car out for an Italian tune up and ragged the tits off it up the M8 Eastwise. Headed off towards Falkirk as there is a weird country B road I like there that goes from Limerigg to Airdrie. I used to work up in Falkirk and learned of this road's quirks. I was sure there was a house somewhere out that direction that had loads of old Volvos.

After a zillion wrong turns I spot this up ahead:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Looks like it might be the place!

But I was wrong! the place is surrounded by old Renners, Fiats and the odd Volvo or two.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

It's quite isolated here and I was 'cautious' about lingering

Posted Image

Bit of a CPTC here

Posted Image

Anyone I.D. the one under tarp?

Posted Image

There are R4s, Volvo 440s, an R25, an R5 van round the back - no pic, and the unknown one.
