My install,, pumping out a whole 1W of audio powahhh - The install was very tricky what I had to do was catch the bus into town ( the 111 John Fishwicks service) and g to TK Hughes who were sellin these wirelesses for £15 - I handed over my hard earned cash and caught the train back (vive la difereance), nervously i opened the box and installed the four c sized batteries and switched on, it wasnt long before i had Radio 4 and PM blasting out much to the annoyance of my wife...

The next day I went to the local camping shop and purchased a lenghth of sticky backed velcro and attched ne side to the underneath of the wireless and one sie to the dashboard - would it hold? It did to y relief... the next step was wiring it into a power source other than the C sized batteries, but that would have to wait untill the mains invertor i had purchasd of evilBay had arrived from Hong Kong, 7 lon days i waited untill it arrived, wouldd it work? with trepidation I plugged in the mains adaptor for the wireless, then plugged the invertor into the fag lighter socket and switched on... Nothing... My heart sank, then i jiggled the invertor in the socket and the wireless urst into life filing the car with the rich tones of Hancocks half Hour.

I put on my shades, wound the window down, put my elbow out of it and set off into the morning haze down the Penwortham Bypass knowing that I was indeed cool and that I would be beating women off with a shitty stick....

Next week, how go faster stripes meant that I can get women pregnant just by drving past them....

Just one question - was there a choice of colours? :D

The white one was £17.50, the pink one £15, no contest.

is that a DAB Radio? If so, £15 was a steal, pink or otherwise.

I would say yes as it has DAB at the top and Digital Radio at the bottom, Bargaintastic price! I could do with one of them for when i'm up my trannie...

You wake up. The room is spinning very gently round your head. Or at least it would be if you could see it which you can't.It is pitch black.

Hell, thats going back a few summers, anyone play Starship Titanic too?

Does it really have 42 and the stripes on the bonnet or is that a Photoshop?

Yes it really has bonnet stripes, yes it really has a 42, yes it really is a 1.0 and yes it really has a pink DAB wireless. And yes it is driven by a fat northern bastard who couldnt give a shit what it looks like so long as the kids on Grange Park dont nick it.

Not dissing the ICE, £15 for a DAB radio is bargainous. I would have plumped an extra £2.50 for a white one mind, but then I am a fashion conscious snob at heart!I'm a bit pissed off 'they' are planning to dump FM in 8 years time though, it will mean my collection of vintage radios will just hiss and hum :( .

I am quite pleased with this very shite install.

Radio cost nothing (came with my old car), the bracket is made from scrap wood and fake leather offcuts, and the speakers were only £20.

You can see the keycode from the passenger's side window, but who'd want a mono Ford radio with out even a cassette player?

Are they turning off all the FM transmitters or is it just a case of the big players will no longer broadcast on it? Sort of like AM, it's still going but hardly anyone uses it since BBC et al moved to FM.I never realised FM was considered Vintage anyway, thought it was a newer thing than that!

gr8 4 not blastin ya eardrumz apart...

I agree. What you need is some bell wire and a pair of these on the back seat to give you an extra 10000000000W (PMPO) of powah. :)

I fear, but don't know for sure, that it will be big switchoff like analogue, so they can sell the airwaves or whatever*. It's not definite yet, but the radio industry are heavily pushing for it, the commercial stations anyway. I'm not sure what the BBC's view is on it. IIRC FM started in (West) Germany in the early 1950s, basically because the Allied occupation govt heavily restricted what could be broadcast on AM.*Remember the jokes in the 80s about privatising air? - well it's sort of come to pass!

Hang on, they want to get rid of FM? I can't even get that yet! This country.

There is a lot of my radio equipment would be redundant then if FM became obsolete, that said Im too poor at the moment to even be able to afford LW.CB radio is one example - the UKFM 27MHz (11M) band is becoming "illigal" to operate on, leaving us sad acts with CB only CEPT-FM to work with legally - and I bet its not long before those bands get taken down and sold off for comercial use in this country at least... Hell, they will be illigalizing the Bomber frequencies (934MHz) next....

That's an image I find deeply disturbing.
