My Xantia HDi - Minor Electrical Question!

Recommended Posts

Daft question I know but does the centre rear seat have a 3 point belt? I have 3 wee kids and it's become my number 1 issue! Really need to get someone to weld 940 seats into my 740 soon for this reason

I think mine does, but dunno if the estate is different to the hatch, I know the seats aren't interchangeable at least

Um... pass! I'll check when I get home this evening. I think it might just be a lap belt though.

Had a look. Middle rear seat is just a lap belt.

I bloody tried raffling it before and only got half the tickets spoken for before the whole thing fell on its arse.

Then converting it to drive on the other side within about 5 minutes of getting it home

If hpi_matrix lets me have an evening with the lady in their avatar, I may consider delivery.

Don't worry ive already worked out how I can do it, cheap flight up to Aberdeen, collect car, drive to mates in Birmingham, get suitably pissed, sleep, drive the rest of the way home.

The cost of the flight + fuel starts making the whole thing quite expensive though :-(

Posted

Sounds like an ideal weekend to me! Chalk the costs down to fun, don't forget the pictures, woolard and fuel station shot!

Posted

I can even collect you from the airport in an LS400 if you want. Then it'll make the Xantia seem like shit all the way to Birmingham... :D

Posted

Plus don't forget it'll be fairly economical, I get about 580/600 miles to £65 in my 1.9td estate xantia, and that's a mix of motorway and a/b roads, a nice motorway schlep in a 2.0hdi should be fairly light on the wallet*

Plus once you sit in it, you won't care! Shame it won't run on veg, you could visit the autoshite fuel station on the way back down for extra money saving

Posted

Supernaut has done Aberdeen to Buckingshitehamfest which is approximately eighty-four thousand miles and the Xantia only used a teaspoon or several* of fuel.

It's very easy to push out of a muddy field, that's for sure. Not quite as easy as a Lexus though

Pollen filter replaced.

The old pollen filter was the wrong one, as it wasn't quite the right shape, and seems to have been fitted by an impatient gorilla.

The new one, on the other hand, fits the pollen filter housing perfectly.

Just flushed the brown LHM for some of that cleaning stuff. Steering already feels lighter.

Noticed a funny random voltage drop to the interior fan and lights though.

Posted

Drove back into Aberdeen.

It's even lovelier to drive now.

However, the trailing edge of the under tray (which I didn't even go anywhere near today) decided it wanted to interface with the ground for the last couple of miles. I just drove it all the way home with it scraping along comically. I'll rip it off tomorrow.

Posted

I can't wait to hydraflush mine out! I never knew they had an undertray though, mine doesn't...

Posted

Nor mine Beko, maybe it's a facelift thing? Keep meaning to check for a pollen filter too.

Posted

A front under tray makes a surprising improvement to the car's drag coefficient (sorry ex ecomodder). So I would try and reattach it.

Posted

Stupid wobbly plastic pile of shit can stay off for now.

I whacked it up to high and crawled under to have a look, and the two bolts holding up the trailing edge of the undertray were still in the subframe. Quite securely too. I've no idea how the undertray came off these, because the holes are not big enough for it to have slipped over the bolt heads.

I tried to refit it, but when I put the bolts back into the same two holes in the subframe for the trailing edge, they were suddenly loose in the holes and the undertray would drop off at the slightest movement. Maybe next time I have it up on ramps I can have a proper look.

So, I want rid of this to make room for me to be able to buy a hot hatch, or something else fruity (maybe along the lines of a BMW 323-328 / anything in between).

The basics:

- Citroen Xantia 2.0HDi SX, 90hp model but has a stage 1 120hp remap. This can be reverted to standard on winner's request if need be.

- 82k on the clocks

- Cosmetically a little bit rough but mechanically rock solid

- MOT until April (but to quote many an ebay seller it should fly through another)

- Serviced in May 2016 with oil and filters and only done about 5-6k tops since then.

- 4x Kumho Ecowings fitted in May 2016 along with an alignment. Again, only covered 5-6k miles.

- Recently put LHM flush in it, and it will come with enough fresh LHM to put in once the flush has done its thing

- SX spec means front fogs, air con and all-round electric windows. All of which work!

Photos available throughout this thread.

£5 per ticket. I'm making a huge loss on it at this price, but hey. Life is too short to drive boring cars. As nice as this car is, it just doesn't excite me. It's very comfortable, frugal, and competent at floating long-distances with ease. It just doesn't have much "zing" to it, if that makes sense. If I had the space, I'd keep it. However, I could be waiting long enough for my circumstances to change, so I may as well have fun while I'm in a position to do so. The next car will definitely be a hot hatch or a 6-cylinder 3er.

Supernaut collected an Omega from me before; that's 490 miles. He spent the first three hours going north. From Aberdeen.

Apparently you can do that without running out off planet.

Who knew.
