dome Posted March 29, 2017 Author Posted March 29, 2017 Well, the results are. Over a mixture of A roads and motorways with a few 20 mile round trip commutes too, all of which involved driving to* the limit heres the scores on the doors I make that just over 28mpg. So, for fuel economy i can thoroughly recommend a V8. You heard it here first. loserone, Supernaut, Tickman and 3 others 6
Split_Pin Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Not sure if you hear me mention last night but our 1.2 Chevy Aveo only managed 11mpg more than that in the 5 years we owned it. As such I fully endorse your size/type of car! dome 1

rantingYoof Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 *kicks self furiously* This a similar feeling to seeing an ex doing much better with somebody far more attractive than you. BUT FAR WORSE. Mason's MOT runs out in under three months now. I rather guiltily remember the MOT failure that Dan got on it after running it for eight months. I obviously got it with an 'MOT' rather than an MOT. My point is, don't get too dispondent juuuuuuuuust yet. Oh, and V8 Mercedes estate, you say? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201703062995607
dome Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 See i've done the w210 thing and jolly good it was too, apart from the cylinder head going 3 days after i bought it. So no, not again. Been there and done that. I plan on having a nosy under the Lexus at some point to see its chances of getting through another MOT. It definitely needs some bushes, I'll give it a prod to see how rusty it is first before i go nuts on fixing things though... 0ldCh0d and rantingYoof 2
rantingYoof Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 There appears to be no structural corrosion in its MOT history, and apart from "EXHAUST IN POOR CONDITION" as an advisory on the last MOT I'd say it's looking positive. If the exhaust is gubbed I think the most senssble thing to do would be to bridge it and call it a day go the whole hog and get a proper stainless steel set-up with no crossover for that proper off-beat burble. dome 1
dome Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 I hope to still have this in June and would like to see it through an MOT. I'd rather spend a few quid to keep it on the road than have it engine raped by some knuckle dragging tattoo'd fuckwit to stick in something and go drifting. I can't weld though so hopefully it doesn't need any of that.... rantingYoof 1

drum Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Go on? A big cheap smoker for a month or two could be considered, I'll be moving my dad into a home shortly and will need to empty his house. It was my dad's for the last 9 years or so until he changed it for an XC70 last month. I didn't want him to trade it in because I fancy it for myself. That would mean me getting rid of the Santa Fe so I'm now thinking I should have let him trade it in. D5 163bhp 40+mpg and surprisingly quick for a big car. It has always been serviced by a local independent, has mot to December and a folder of bills. The last big one was last year when he had the clutch and dmf replaced. That bill was for £1200 which is how he wants for the car. There's a wee patch of lacquer peel on the drivers side rear quarter, otherwise the paintwork is pretty sound. New winter tyres on this year which are still like new. Think it has about 120k miles. More pics and info available if you want. Welcome to come and see and have a drive too. dome 1
cort16 Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 A manual gearbox s4 is one of the nicest cars I've driven. The 8 series look great but I think they drive pretty average. I wish there was more manual gearboxes versions. dome 1
