Buy my Cuore future-shite! (PLEASE)

Hey here's some of my future-shite for you. Cross-posted from OJC. Possibly not down-at-heel enough to be on here, mind. Though I'll probably buy all kinds of toss old cars when it sells. Plus you can look at the Stanza or something, won't that be fun?

1998 Daihatsu Cuore (Mira) TR-XX Avanzato R4

Engine: 659cc 4-Cylinder 16V Twincam, Turbocharged and intercooled

Transmission: 5-speed manual gearbox, fulltime 4WD

This is one of the 80-odd official UK models so you won't get stung for insurance - plus the UK specs were the top-spec "R4" model (R for 4-cylinder, 4 for 4WD), whereas private imports tend to be the front-wheel drive model.

It has 48K on the clock and stacks of history, I've always looked after it and allowed it to warm up and run down properly, serviced it per the intervals using proper Daihatsu parts, etc. It runs and drives brilliantly and revs up to the redline of 8500rpm with no bother. A few months back I treated it to a new set of Yokohama A-Drive tyres.

Interior has electric windows, electric adjustable mirrors (which fold in at the press of a button because the car is so massively wide) and air con.

It can break 50mpg quite easily on a gentle run and makes a surprisingly good daily - despite the external dimensions it feels quite big inside and the standard bucket-ish seats are both supportive and comfortable.

Finally, the car will have a fresh 12 months MOT and tax until the end of September 2009. It's based in West Yorkshire, easy to get to from the M1 and M62.

Price: £1,995

If you want any more details, to arrange a viewing, etc. preferably PM or Email on [email protected]; otherwise phone me on 07958938997, no texts as they cost me a sodding fortune.

Cheers!

And here's a more shitey one:

I've recently been re-visiting GT3, and have been whipping some serious ass with one of these actual exact models, but in white. Once an uprated intercooler was fitted, it absolutely destroyed an AE86. Apparently.Probably not the most constructive addition to the thread, but I thought it might help. 8)

I would love that... 8) Good luck with the sale.

^^^^WHS. It's about £1800 out of my price range like :) Hope it finds a good home.

WTAS ....about £1500 out of my price bracket for a modern daily for HID

Why don't you all put your money together and get it on a timeshare basis? That'd be thoroughly inconvenient I imagine.

Extremely appealing, but £1200 more than I've ever spent on a car, etc. etc.

The price is pretty fair, not much more than I've seen grotty ones go for.

Any more pics, of the interior/seats especially?

Maybe I should take out one of these loans to help me along, the interest rate seems fair.

Typical 2356% APRWow!
I bet the robbing bastards are doing some sound business as well, given that the banks aren't freely handing the loans out any more.

I'll get some interior ones at some point, I did have some from a while ago but dunno where I saved them now. The seats are ludicrous semi-bucket things with "Avanzato" stitched into them, rest of the interior is just standard Cuore but in black.Yeah I think the price is reasonable enough - the worst I've seen a taxed and tested one go for was £1500 and it had absolutely knackered rear arches. Must be OK as I've had a few enquiries including swaps for a Mini (no) or an Impreza Turbo Wagon (no).Someone on Autotrader has had one up at £4995 for ages, lower miles than mine and a V-reg, suspect he'll be waiting a while.

Yay at last! For how long have we been promised this?!

...not down-at-heel enough to be on here...

...but alas, so true, the load of scrubbers we are.I test-drove one identical (could even have been this one if there were only 80) for sale at a Vauxhall dealership in Harrogate in about 2000. It drove similar to a breathed-on mini in many ways- it felt like it was begging to be thrashed along a twisty little B-road. That one was up for 4 or 5 £k then, and tbh I was dreaming. Still am. SWMBO and running our own business locally means the Imprezawagon is a more practical daily.

Totally off topic, but one of the posh sunday papers mentioned (in an fairly approving manner) how some woman (described as 'working in the city', prob a temp secretary) raised £500 for a skiing holiday through this lot. Un-fucking-believable  She was a complete minger, the ugliest female I have seen within 'the square mile' by a long way. So she couldn't get a boss to take her for a dirty weekend on his coin.Sorry Hirst, but its a bump in a roundabout way!

As someone who doesn't know much about the idea behind cars like this, without trying to sound negative, what is it's selling point? That it's very rare, or that it is a genuine performance car or that it's purely funky & fashionable?Does it have notable performance or is it just that it happens to be the quickest in it's field of....err....Asian superminis?

Yes.

A bit of everything then I take it! Are there any websites for those that like to see the figures? i.e. 0-60, top speed, insurance group those sorts of things?

Put it this way Reg, its so quick Hirst has had to have his eyeballs replaced due to retina damage on par with being strapped to the outside of the space shuttle on re-entry.*

*May not be true.

It's quicker than my Piazza to 60 - and that's got 150 BHP!

Posted

You've driven one?

A Piazza? Yes, quite a lot.

These cars are 'the win', I don't think I have laughed myself so silly driving anything else barring perhaps a Mini. Wish I had two large as it would be an ace toy. Sadly I haven't even got two quid at the minute.

That is so cool, shame it's a little out of my price range or I would(yes, I know that's no help whatsoever)

I keep seeing you around and about in this Mr Hirst. It seems like an age since we stood in the redbeck carpark, in the gathering darkness, talking about how cool this car is. And you got a stanza, you lucky bugger you....

I've not been out and about in it for a few months now man! I've been in the Galant lately. As for the Stanza, can't wait to be going on Wakey krooz in it, pumping da choonz, doing wheelies and taking 15 year old girls to MaccyDs. Alternatively, perhaps not.
