It really is as lovely as it looks and yet no takers.

So with space and time at a premium, I have done the only sensible thing and bought it this CX as a mate.

I think I need help...

Absolutely love the GS, such a fantastic shape.  And memorable engine note.

They seemed to go a bit crazy price-wise five or so years ago but fallen away a bit now?

Did you buy the CX unseen, 'ow much? I like the 'rust free and original' bit a lot.

Next, buy     citro_25C3_25ABn-sm-09.jpg

Delta blue is deffo the best Citroen colour for that period of cars.

Went to see the CX in an SM, which was disappointingly silver.

Very important question: has it got early type speedo with revolving drum? They were ace.

Agree on the blue. Good way to assess a CX, arriving in an SM.

I think I need help...

Invite me along next time, I'll help.

JP - unless it's a turbo in heavy disguise, it will have the drum speedo. Yum.

It might look like its in France, but in fact its in Chesterfield.

Very nice seller, who just happens to have a unit with a 2 post lift.

So we put it up in the air and no we could not find one spec of rot on it.

Paid "all the money as they say", but I love it so what the hell. If the GS sells around the asking price, I will loose on that too, but its what we do, is it not.

I can't recall seeing CX's in anything other than white and fwaaar, very lovely, much nice.

To complete the delta blue set you need a 1974/5 DS and a rotary engined M35 Ami

CXellent!  That's what I call a proper Autoshite solution.

Actually there were two periods of rotating drums. The earlier cars had the black figures on a glowing orange background , and the second generation s1 had illuminated orange figures with a black background. My 1984 Pallas had the later style. The turbos were weird and went all standard dials.

There sure were. I was simply responding to DS driver's question and trying to avoid another long, rambling thread typical of fdb! You could fill a page of A4 with the various changes to the S1's dash between '74 and '85.

Any thoughts as to why the S1 Turbos ditched the drums and went with the dials? My theory is that the drum speedo was too slow to respond to the acceleration. Whatever, these controls are by far the most ergonmic I've ever known.
