Sierra Bits Needed!

Does anyone know of a source for front shocks for the white Sierra Mk1 (2.0 Ghia auto)?

Also a battery bracket.

Ken,

The battery bracket was in the drivers door pocket - I didn't get chance to refit it when I put the fresh battery on for John to pick it up.

I'm sure it had a battery bracket when I had it?

You can get decent shocks from ebay and ECP. You could even upgrade to gas for not a lot more money. Good thing about the Sierra is that parts availability is still good and not expensive for most stuff.

Here are Sachs at ECP:

But check ebay etc. as I'm sure you could get a better price.

Edit: John beat me to it! And yes, the KYB above would be a good choice. If I had kept it I was planning on fitting KYB gas shocks all round. :)

Cheers John, I'll have a look at the weekend. Thanks.

I just want to add that I would have this back if I had the cash, but I don't, sadly. :(

This is a great car and would love to see it stay in the fold.

Someone got a crappy red low spec one for sale on Gumtree right now, maybe you could use some bits from it?

Well I seem to have the most pressing bits. I may have to wait till next month for the shocks.

Thanks everyone :)

One thing that does bug me. The glass sunroof has a metal surround. This is rusty in places and looks a bit nasty.

There is no way to fix this other than replacing the actual unit. I have emailed a couple of people on eBay who are breaking some Sierras but they don't seem to want to bother.

How easy are they to remove and refit? Just need to get hold of one.

How rusty is it? Can I suggest wire wool and a tube of metal polish?

Sierra Sunroofs are at a premium as most frames  are going rotten  , Mk1 and mk2 are different

They're not too bad to remove / refit. Whole lot comes out as a cartridge.

Currently shopping for service parts for the "crappy red low spec one for sale on Gumtree" and see that carparts4less have front shocks at £42 and rears at £17.

Cheers folks, shocks boughted.

The sunroof frame is lifting the rubbery/plastic coating in a few spots.

It isn't the worst thing in the world but it will bug me.

Funds now spent on smaller bits (and shocks). Next couple of months will see moar sunroof sorting action. Hopefully.  Battery clamp. Sadly absent from door pockets and glove compartment thingy. No worries, breakers will provide :)
