Raffle Time scales

Now I like a raflle on here as much as the next bod, but do we need to consider an agreed timescale on each of them.

Only asking as Moog's Civic has appeared and I'd like to take a couple of tickets, however I'm already in another as well. Now I'm not going to just withdraw my name from raffle one to take part in raffle 2, but I dont want to run the risk of winning both raffle 1 and raffle 2 (However unlikely that would be)

How about a month timescale for a raffle , or even an agreement that bods can remove their name from the raffle after a month.

At the end of the day, dont want to just remove myself from raffle 1 and show myself to be the total twat that I am..

What does everyone else think?

Makes no difference. Rarely does someone win a car and then actually want it. ☺

If you win and don't want/can't have it then you could always seem it on at the cost of the ticket to the first victim, sorry lucky person to reply.

No timescale. More roffle.

Agreed - How many tickets do you want! :-)

I would say that before the roffle has been declared closed and payment sent (payment isn't usually sent until all numbers are filled I believe? Correct me if I'm wrong) then it's entirely acceptable to withdraw your name.

Granted I haven't roffled anything yet, but if I were to, I would consider that perfectly fair.

Considering the roffler could also close the roffle early if the car sells conventionally, I'd say it's fair game to remove your name at any point up to money being exchanged.

I think my name is still on the list for a nice Ford Fiesta roffle that's now many pages yonder.

In a word, No!

If there's a chance you won't have the spare cash to hand out at any given time then don't enter them.

I reckon some raffles/attempted raffles have fallen on their arse (inc at least one of mine) because there wasn't enough interest for whatever reason.

Survival of the fittest, I suppose. Leaving it as it is gets my vote. The only change I'd like to see (and I fully appreciate it's very easy for me to say this now) is that people might want to make a small donation to DaveB47 each time a full hit of numbers has been taken. Just a suggestion, nothing more.

Agreed it is survival of the fittest, if the civic isnt up for Roffle in about two weeks I will remove it and sell it normally.

I think it is fair enough to withdraw your name, life changes/you sober up/wife finds out so as long as it doesnt materially impact the roffle then it should be fine.

Understand the sentiment about the Roffle making a donation to DaveB47, would that apply to all cars sold on here?

Erm, yes.  That memorably happened to someone not very far from this laptop a few short months ago, conveniently at the same time as the car I was driving was destroyed.  So if you win two at once, so what?  Flog one car, or both, or keep them both.  Nobody will mind.

These are a funny thing these roffles, the celica sold out really quickly first time round but is not moving much now (which is a shame as I was going to win this time) the other stuff up for grabs at the minute doesn't really interest me, I do think there are too many at the minute.

for me, because I'm a tight bastard, less than or equal to a fiver and I'm in, car not really bothered about, location meh, you can get to most pars of the country cheaply, or shitely relay would be offered up, or worst case just scrap, offer for resale.

Wifey is never overly happy when I enter one but as they are just a few quid for a laugh I really don't care. there have been a few cars which I would not have actually minded owning!

this answers your question not. I'm happy with the way things are.

It would only work if people agreed to it, but I'd certainly be up for it.

This. Up to a fiver and I can justify a quick flutter. Timescales are irrelevant I'd say. The main thing that needs to happen is that someone buys a load of motd undesirable Jap superminis and gets rid of them all via roffle for a fiver or less per ticket. I'd be all over them.
