On the other topic...

Andy FPB7 has confirmed he will collect the Picasso key from Chompy tomorrow and deliver it to me on Friday.  ASMMDS will then hurl the French egg northward at the weekend.

What has the solicitor said then?. I can't believe you haven't been offered a car as it's in your right. You need to apply some pressure to the solicitor if not.

As a rule you get a car until the 3rd party pays out the claim plus it normally helps get things moving on a bit quicker as they don't want to be paying for a car longer than they need too.

I can get the parts priced up quite keenly and make a brake pipe. Probably 40 to 50 quid all in, however the brake pipe is the one that goes from front to rear and the fuel tank needs to come down to do the job properly. I'm not a big fan of putting joins into a pipe but this may be the best way, on this occasion.

Has anyone got a hand-held flanging tool to save removing tank etc?

I'm willing to organise the necessary parts to get the Fester MOT'd and put a bit more time in to get it finished, but do need some help with getting the brake pipe done.

I have a pipe flaring tool but It's not the smallest IIRC so may be a bit of a fight getting to the pipework. I'll come down to help out if I can. How big a deal is dropping the tank on one of these anyway?

Don't get the Golf mk3 auto. It's 2.0 and won't do 30mpg on a bad day plus it's the high tax band. Clio OK in the front for room but not much so in the back.

dropping the tank is a pain in the arse and often the filler neck part of the tank is so rusty it snaps off - avoid doing it if you can

I've just remembered that Volvo 440 auto is up the road. Trouble is only two weeks test and its a 1.7

I'm unsure on mpg parts availability etc though. Can anyone enlighten me?!

Volvo 440 auto, Renault engine isn't it? I think Dave/Station had one and it was quite cheap to run.

The 440 is a comfy thing. No idea about the Proton. Both look good.

I've got chance of a lift to the proton tomorrow. Sorely tempted but its a long way if its a shed!

I will bung wong if this is still happening.  How do I do the bungage?

Been and looked at Volvo 440 auto earlier, same one I posted other week. Lovely car, could benefit from a hose down outside but gearchange I smooth, engine is responsive but only a week mot left on it. Not bad history mot wise though if anyone wants o check. Reg is j920 upu. Proton is 170 mile eachway so long way to go for a nail.

I always wanted a Volvo 440 when I were a lad! Mot had an advisory for a slightly leaking exhaust, so it'll either fly through again next week or need some exhaust wob to get it through, then a new exhaust.

Can you get on with the gear change though?

Ooooh swanky! How well can you get on the floor and check it's not blowing anywhere? If it's half decent it'll save a 340 mile round trip to view an unknown
