1980 Maxi in Sheffield Scrapyard Shocker

The plate is a nonsense and yes it's been transferred, rung or whatever game was played but it isn't of any real value as the vanity plate market imploded a while ago.  I know this as I played buy and sell of a few plates and wasn't worth it past 2010

DXG 25K.   A double-number suffix plate, worth not a lot unless you can find a buyer named Donald Xavier Gannymede who is bragging about his pay rise

Why would they do that? Especially to then let the car go for such a low price... the plate's probably worth more than the car (to some hipster chump, anyway).

There's no doubt it's a different car. No rear window demister on the bronze one, plus some tiny dings on SpastoMaxi are missing on the bronze one.

Why ring it? And he does state the plate only goes with the car if makes £1000.

We don't know the current vendor is the one who did the plate swap, whether it's a legit transfer or a ringing job. Some people just like short plates, and if you happened to have three or four Maxis, you may well want the 'best' plate on your favourite of the cars, especially if the blue one was looking unlikely to pass another MoT. People swap reg plates on cars all the time, it doesn't automatically mean something dodgy is going on is all I'm saying.

Why is it a ringer? If the plate is transferable it's probably just been transferred on to this car, which happens to be the same model as it was previously on. There is literally no point in ringing a car of such low value

It's deffinately not bee transfered as I have just run through cardatacheck, and had no plate changes, so is deffo ringed/well dodgy.

I didn't say it had been ringed, just that it was a different car.

The 'mysterious' bit is that someone thought it was worth doing to a Maxi - especially where the plate swappage involves a car that's as... er, notorious as SpastoMaxi  :-D

Tax.

Yes, Reynard Metallic (which I think the Spastoringer is) was new on the BL paint chips for 1976.  That doesn't mean any Maxis were painted that colour for a year or so though, they probably had more than enough cars standing around to shift as it was.  Reynard Allegros seem to span 1978-1980

Maybe the blue one was scrap and the bronze one had lost its v5. Quick ID swap and everyone's a winner*.

To be fair that paint job was enough to render the blue one a total loss

Any updates?

Still trying to get a reg. for my Belgium import. ;)

Looked naked without a plate, so this should confuse everyone. :)
