Skegness meet .. suggestions

I'm with you on the Cleethropes location FPB7, but then Skeg is a bit East and not on the best roads ... I know there will be issues for some with anywhere we choose.

Anyway any other suggestions for location or is it gonna be a choice between Skeg or Cleethorpes?

Ok, so far we have:

Skegness

Cleethorpes

Rutland Railway

I think for a first meet it's best not to be too ambitious as we all have other things to do, so I was just thinking of a 1 venue meet, just a cafe/car park get together.

Skegness or Cleethorpes for me.

Just hope it doesn't clash with any of my other bookings!

I'll vote Rachel's, easyish to get to I think a decent breakfast is around 4.50 I think? plenty of car park space too.

It is all my fault.

Do they still run a Class 20 and a load of rotten coaches up to Skeg? That's the way to travel. Regardless, Cleethorpes is a bit north for me and sCunthorpe is dire. There's nothing there. Apart from my coat that I left at an ex's house

Skeg pier is ok, there's arcades and fish and chips and rock and loads of charity shops.

There also Skeg Stadium where people deliberately drive into each other, and East Kirkby air museum where Just Jane is moored.

Just asked the future Mrs Fred what it's like in Cleethorpes as she's from round there and her expert opinion is it's like Skegness, but worse. That aside i'd be up for a meet up in either of these British holiday resorts if the date works out. Do we have a proposed date yet?

Cleethorpes - it's like Skegness, but worse.

We have a Winnah!

Lets keep the location as Skegness(ish) for now, any suggestions of date or venue in/around Skeg?

Ruff, I think we can leave in Rachels cafe in this as it's en route to Skegness, and we could always pop down the beach for a paddle afterwards ;)

Of course those in the north can arrange a meet at their own favourite* seaside destination too. Fair chance we'll go to that one as well.

If anyone is interested, I arranged a monthly Skoda meet just outside Lincoln, at the Sentry Post Snack Bar, opposite RAF Waddington, on the A15 between Lincoln and Sleaford. We have been going for just over a year now, and last month we opened to the meet up to other classic/retro cars, where we had an Audi cabrio, a Mk2 Golf GTi and a very nice Mk2 Escort join us in rather dismal weather.

Our next meet up is planned for Sunday 7th February at 1pm. Hot food and drink is available from the snack bar. Feel free to join us. If anyone knows where Avro Vulcan XM607 is parked at the side of the A15, we are directly opposite. There is adequate FREE parking for 200 cars.

I'd aim at outside of the school holidays as skeg and the roads surrounding it tend to fill up pretty quickly.

Ok, so how about ... Sunday 28th February - somewhere in/near Skegvegas?

See below map for current details:

In the meantime, does anyone fancy tagging along to Czechered Flag's meet a week on Sunday?

I might pop along in something or other as it's about 5 minutes down the road for me.

I can't make the 28th unfortunately, Mrs Ruff works every other weekend leaving me with the bairns.

Holy shit.  Skeggy in February.  I'd feel like an interloper in my Xantia.

That's a rusting Hillman Hunter mission if ever there was one...

Posted

But I still want to go.  Except reasons.

I'd kind of forgotten about this due to working far too much, and now I can't make 28th either ....

Does anyone fancy suggesting a March date?

Posted

Skegness and Cleethorpes are both equidistant from me so it's difficult to vote either way, given that they're both equally dire. I'll bob along to whichever is chosen.

I'm teaching little darlings to shoot arrows at things on the 28th. March is looking quite full at the weekends but I'll give it a shot.....

I was going to go but I heard Barefoot was going so gave it a miss...

If anyone wants to suggest something please do.

Most of my free time is tied up with a recent house purchase, but I'll see if I can make whatever is organised.

There is now a half decent restaurant at the top end of Skeggy that does all you can eat breakfasts, chinese/american/pizza or carvery on a Sunday, and it ain't too pricey neither.

What do we reckon chaps, before or after shitefest?
