These people are on the verge of going bust from what I've heard.

Perhaps that's because they have a 35% sale EVERY weekend. According to the emails they keep pestering me with anyway. Though one week, it was only 32% off.

It would help if they sorted out their website, mind you its been several years since i bothered with them because the site is/was shit, for all i know its ok now.

Just had a look, yes the site is better than i recall so quickly looked up front pads for daughters Aygo     DriveTec? £29.04    Vetech? £28.08     Premium? £33.84    dunno if these are free postage or not, but i am actually looking at the set of Pagids which came free postage from Eurocarparts via ebay for under £17 early this week.

What have you heard?

Pagid is the Indian/shite-spec of Hella-Gutman.  I think.

Nothing - its why I asked. I don't work in the trade.

I refuse to use these firms because they treat their staff like shit.

I heard a regional reps for a major OE supplier were dispatched to claw back their impress stock....

Oh dear. Not a good omen.

No. And some regional branches have since closed.  Allegedly.

Both GSF and ECP email me several times every week to tell me about sales. I think the notification LED telling me about them accounts for about 80% of my battery charge.

I didn't know TMD had sold Pagid brand on, thanks for the heads up, they can go back.

When I have called into one of their stores, I have found them very reasonably priced on off-the-shelf items.

Pagid pads and discs I got for the Saab recently were TMD-labelled...

Might have been old stock though

Still find the website a ballache - it wont show me jacks unless I input a make and model of car, even then it wont show me all the jacks, only ones it thinks are suitable for that car - matches = 15, total items shown 3

Its not all Asian sub-continent shite.  Its just I dunno whats European and whats not.

About 5 years ago I had a Merc W202 C-Class (yes it was rusty). It needed a new lambda sensor, I was advised to buy a model specific part, which has colour coded wiring. ECP didn't stock it so I gave GSF a call. Now, whilst my local branch didn't have one in stock, I was advised that the Heathrow branch did. So of I went to Heathrow, got there after being stuck in traffic for 1.5 hours, only to find that the part set aside for me is the generic fit non colour coded part. I gave the sales guy an earful and vouched never to use GSF again.

I've known that tactic to sink a company overnight. Fortunately I had already moved on but it was bad times for my former colleagues.

Not naming names but if you think about the doors in a garden fence you won't be far off.

Well GSF are a load of shite, put in the Granada's reg and it can't find it and there is no option for Ford Granada from the drop-down box

The only experiences I have of gsf is positive, but that is using the local branch

Posted

I've had problems with GSF in the past, largely down to one or two know-it-all's at my nearest branch but latterly they've been better than ECP which may not be saying that much.

Still, I'd rather GSF didn't die as without competition, ECP will only get worse. TBH I almost exclusively use local motor factors rather than GSF/ECP where possible as prices are often little different and at least you get what you ordered! (And both GSF & ECP are about a 15 mile round trip whereas the local M/F is under a mile away).
