I know this question is about moderns but I would appreciate the thoughts of those mechanics, testers and folk who may have one. I am looking at a 7 seater my missus likes the Mazda 5 ,sliding doors etc. I like value for money and zafiras are cheaper. Mazda is a 2.0 pez and zafira is 1.8 pez. Moving away from a diesel now has I only do short journeys so cant be arsed with Dpf messing about. Anyone have either of these and could offer some experience. Thanks

Zafira easier and cheaper to fix.

Mazda can rust - zafira does not.

If Bently done a seven seater I would look.its probably a foregone conclusion now has my dear wife has declared zafiras awful. So Mazda 5 it is . The new ones have a 12 year corrosion perforation warranty. Yes and father Xmas is a real person.

Vauxhaul has one killer problem, it's made by Vauxhaul. Mazda will be utterly boring but reliable beyond belief. The damn things are almost impossible to kill.

It like asking if you prefer cat shit or dog shit ☺

Well cats bury their poop 💩 so that's preferable. A jaguar it is then.

Go Jap and buy a Previa innit. Cheaper than some chips and not made of iron oxide. Evens looks pretty good I reckon.

*Edit, how crap do the newer ones look? Just had a look and evilbay and it turns out the shape I remember the Previa as, like above, are relatively rare now.

If you did want more modern, you could always buy a TOYOTA VOXY NOAH TOWNACE PREVIA ALPHARD ELGRAND instead.

I would put the link on here, but now sure how to link to Evilbay?

I would honestly happily agree with the better made bit about Mazdas if I hadn't heard so many stories about self grenading engines, though diesels seem worse.

PS: As for Previas you'll need a lifetime's supply of K-seal and head gaskets.

I stand corrected on the Bently fine sir. I shall put an offer on a wheel. I must point out I am not a footballer so a Bently may not be prudent.. I did once nearly crash into Steven Gerard who was driving * his new Bentley convertible around a local housing estate for the amusement of the natives. I have considered the jap imports like the new alphard or the Mitsubishi dacia . Not too sure around parts etc. They look to be just the job but a 3.0 ltr petrol auto may eat into my pie budget. The Renault grand espace is a fantastic car and worth a look. Its just a taxi mate of mine had one new and it failed in a big way at 60,000 miles and two years old. He had a new engine fitted under warranty and got rid of it a couple of months later.

poxhall or miserable a mazda, it sounds like having to choose between a firing squad or the hangmans noose?

Watch for the weak gearboxes on the Vauxhall.

I believe that Mazda are the only company that now supply new cars that run on lpg.  That might influence me.

Thanks for the help chaps. Itv news helped by featuring zafiras that go on fire. So Mazda it is.

I wouldn't worry about Zafiras catching fire.

I heard they were aftermarket resistor packs going on fire? Not sure how true that is. If it is anything like the one in my Fiat, the resistor pack melted the dash and harness before the thermal fuse popped (also a replacement, possibly not OEM).

The aftermarket resistor pack doesn't have a thermal fuse.  So they just get hotter and hotter.  Don't use them on position one, that's my view.  Doesn't do much on 1 anyway.

Ah, makes sense then. I wish my Fiat's hadn't had one, then the hateful pile of shite might have done me a favour for once and turned into a blazing inferno. Alas, I was never so lucky.
