Sold! 1992 Honda Prelude 2.0 Auto

Time to move this one on to pastures new.  I like it, but it's not me and I have too many cars on the go so I'd like this one to go to a new home.  I got this off J-T on this very forum and I believe he also changed the rocker cover gasket shortly before selling it to me.

It's a 1992 Honda Prelude 2.0 auto, nice tidy, straight condition with the original dealer floor mats, stickers, numberplates and key ring.  It's done just over 89,000 miles and has an MOT until 8th September 2016.

It's recently had new rear brake calipers, a rear wheel bearing, 4 nearly new tyres and wheel alignment.  There's also a receipt for an exhaust system in the last couple of years.  Not much else in the history but it looks like it's been well cared-for.  I've replaced the OZ wheels and nasty cheap tyres it came with with an original set of Honda alloys which are in need of paint to tidy them up.  The car has a few rust blebs on the rear wings and sunroof and there's a few little scuffs and marks here and there but otherwise it's very straight and tidy.  The OZ wheels are still here if anyone wants them.

The auto box shifts nicely and it runs very nicely, the ATF looks clean and it doesn't seem to use any fluids other than perhaps a little sip of power steering fluid - it's a bit hard to tell though and I've yet to have to top anything up.

It is unfortunately a CAT C, I think the marker was put on in 2011 - no idea what the mishap was but it shows no signs of it now that I can see.  Also, the clock doesn't work properly, it counts minutes as seconds (capacitor fault, they all do that apparently).  All the other buttons seems to work although the aftermarket front foglights don't do anything, unless I just haven't found the switch.

I'd like £650 for it please.  It'll be on Gumtree and local ads shortly for a bit more but of course I would prefer to sell it on here as you're all such nice people.  I'm in Barnstaple in North Devon but am happy to help deliver it to wherever in the country it might need to go.

I'm liking. Clearly what you need in your life is a Volvo with a sodden interior and a My Little Pony lunchbox.

that is THE sexy shape that these come in, and i too am really liking it,

Nice!!

BUT,

Devon, i mean bloody DEVON!!

typical, it couldn't be any further away and still be in this country.

GLWS....

I want this. But, funds are a tad tight at the mo' and space even more so. I've asked the Honda dealer to take my Insight in on SOR and if they do, I'll have space (not)....

GLWTS.

I agree, everything is 300 miles away and I'm not that far oop north.

Alas, I already own a damp Volvo (heated seats are not so nice when wet as I discovered tonight, methinks a blocked sunroof drain).  I do not have the lunchbox though so I'm open to negotiation.

About 3,200 from memory but don't quote me on that.  It's a very good motorway cruiser and will do naughty speeds (ahem) with no fuss at all.

If it doesn't sell through the normal channels I might consider a raffle if there was enough interest but at £11 a ticket I'm not expecting a big rush.

Does that dashboard actually do anything cool, or is it all just a big lump of reflective perspex designed to dazzle the driver in low rearward sunshine?

'cause if there's a space invaders game hiding behind the passenger side, I'm in.

I can vouch for the Lihp Delivery Service.  Prompt and capable, frontline staff expert in customer relations, would use again.  Except I don't (think I) want a Prelude at the moment.....

I very much want this car.  But am sure you have no need for a very tidy and smart Xantia turbot diseasel...

Posted

I do not I'm afraid. That's not to say I wouldn't mind a Xantia at some point in the future but there's no more room on the fleet.

If it helps anyone, I'll be heading down Barnstaple way on Wednesday via Newport and Bristol. In the XM though, so I cannot offer a caper service.

Posted

Well if you're passing in the evening you're welcome to stop by for a cuppa.

Anyway, the XM has a tow bar so bring a trailer :D

Thanks. Flying family visit so I won't be available sadly - though happy to provide a taxi service should it be required.

Always wanted one of these, they're absolutely gorgeous.

Then look no further, kind sir.

Unfortunately, the Saab is doing nothing wrong at the moment, and I can't really justify a second car.

However, if I were to get my roffle number drawn out, then she can have the Saab, I get this beauty and the Skoda of Zzzzzzzz can go the hell away!

No takers? This one is proving a bit tricky to shift, one low offer off Gumtree and a 'how much for your item' on Pistonheads so far.

Probably not the best time of year for it though.

Sorry, how much is wanted? Struggling to read the entire thread due to OMG ipad issues...

Edit. £650. Just found it....

Swaps for a 3rd Gen Prelude plus cash?

No...?

Posted

I really want this but am a bit skint at the moment. Can you not put this in p/x against a nearly new Honda Insight in perfect order? Go on, you know you want to.... :)

Posted

I thought for a moment you was going to say  p/x this for a Bentl..... :-P   I dare say it could seal a deal !

Sorry, I need to free up space and money so can't do a part exchange or swap, much as I do like the 3rd gen Prelude.
