MOT Question - Passenger electric window - working??

Electric window has failed on the Polo, and the MOT is due in a month.

Anyone know if it has to be working, or will it be a fail?

Cheers

No, as long as the door opens - inside handle and out  (safety thing) all is good  - My Foresters N/S window  stopped working 3 years ago - no hassles

Great news. I vaguely remember there was a new test where everything that was installed on the car had to still be there and working,

Only if it's testable, so if you have a 50s car that never had seat belts it won't fail but if they were there originally they have to work.

And at that point, the entire forum gives up on life.

Hands up anyone who still has a 100% working car, every last gizmo and doofer? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Yes, the 2cv and fiat- but they have very little in the way of electrics anyway.

Actually the 2cv is out, the fuel gauge gave up the ghost at the weekend.

So that leaves the pinnacle of electrical reliability being a 1980's fiat. Go figure!

Jesus.  Then most of us would be fucked.

Actually the doors need to be openable from the inside. So if the handle is broken leave the window open so the tester can use the exterior handle. If the window doesn't open as well, THEN you're stuck.

Mot Pass.

I've tried the open window thing and it doesn't wash, sadly, even in a car with no roof. Boo

Has with me. Door handle of the xantia broke on the way to the mot before chance to fix it, left window open and all ok. Perhaps a lenient tester?
