Big car, little car

The Saab is in for MoT and waiting for a new screen (another story). I have been using a "courtesy" Kia Picanto.

The 9-5 is big and the Kia is little.  So far, so terrifying. I have had the thing for 24 hours and have lost count of how many times I have been cut up, undertaken in the bus lane and tailgated, especially by vans and lorries.  I don't get any of this is the Saab.

Is it just paranoia on my part or is this a trend?

You could be correct. I seem to find i get a lot more folk tailgating when im in the 75 than i did with the Santa Fe.

The Junkwoman got rear ended in the Colt, as well as the Charade. Those were the only and last small cars we had.

If you are in a small car, you simply don't exist.

Funnily enough, this doesn't happen in the Dyane, despite it being painted in a camouflage style. In a 2CV, you often get treated as a third-rate citizen.

i have the same thing when i'm driving the metro, i don't know if it is cos the car is old, or that it is a small car, but it seems to bring out the m,murderous streak in other road users.

i know the car is only a 1000, and its trundling about in the inside lane, but the result is that other road users just want/need/must be past whether or not it is safe to do so or not.

and it is the same on a country road or on a dual carriageway/trunk road.

i think there are other road users who have it in mind that cos my wee car is old and paid for (its not on tick or german or some other shizzle) means that it shouldn't be on the road. even though it is taxed, tested, insured and (i hope) well maintained.

the same is true when i take the mini out, though not to such a degree.

it ruins my enjoyment of both cars, so much so that the mini in particular doesn't get much use.

so much so sometimes i do wonder whether i should get rid.....

... I worry greatly...

I shop at the TESCO on the Coast Rd - I then shoot back to Wallsend. I keep the toe in all the way up the road BUT, as we pass the slip (up from A19/Tunnel), people just heave in and 'pop' cars out into the outer lane.

My car is small [invisible] and 85 to 40 in 30yds is a real brake test.....

Not using their mirrors  :?

... perhaps I should insure with LV

I was coming back down from Edinburgh on the A1 in the old Colt sitting at a steady 80mph, as the duel carraige way was coming to an end I could see cars frantically trying to rush past me even on the chevrons, I stuck at my indicated speed For the next 200 yards where the 8 cars had all slowed down to 55mph, next straight I over took them again, I don't think it's because its a small car but I do think they just didn't want to be behind an old car.

I get it a fair bit in the Minor but only on the faster urban roads - there's a three lane 50 limit in town and as this corresponds with the vertical position of the Minor speedo I know full well I am never doing much under that unless traffic dictates.   Traffic did dictate the other day, not good enough for Mr. OLLI in his look-at-me-Camel-Trophy-style Verydisco who sat on my bumper like something out of Duel.   I don't rise to this kind of shit these days, far too old for that.....Buuuuttt, if ever I see that fucking eyesore in a car park somewhere I can't guarantee there wont' be big wet rag stuffed into his snorkel.....

Seems normal for a 2cv driver. Even more so for a cyclist.
