Well done! I was admiring a jrg dizzler that an old giffer along my road drives this very evening.

Sometimes it drives ok.........................sometimes you put it in gear, and nothing happens [according to seller]............I shall investigate further when I get it back to Col Towers.........

Do you recall Mr Bollox's exploits with a 75 where a driveshaft problem caused this although a permanent problem not intermittent.

Solenoids? TRS?

If it sometimes works then doesn't maybe a control system prob rather than borked box?

If anyone should know......................

How is the patient, btw?  Any news?

What a refreshing change - a rover with a borked auto box and no HGF.

Also, not a french car with a borked auto box.

The patient is well! Off the road at the moment due to financial limitations. Am skint. But progress is good. Changed a few electronicky parts and been tinkering. Found some rust that needs sorting and the exhaust is, err past its best really. Progress is good. It will live again soon.

Mr Dugong........

MOT until next June..........no advisories on the last one ,either. Being retrieved Sat or Sunday................Going to trailer it to my local garage who "knows about these"..............he suspects solenoid malarkey.

Sometimes a change of fluids/filters works wonders ?

They're a good lo, if they can sort it without extreme money, they will do.............mind you , it is a Jatco box, which apparently aren't that great........

On the plus side, typed details into Webuyanycar.....................£1263!

I've spent the week driving a 51-plate CDTi auto Tourer and I think I really need to have one in my life... probably not this one, but one of these anyway.

I an also a bit needy about one of these. Liked my last one, but I reckon I could really like an auto. If it worked.

I had an X-type dizzler auto until recently, with a Jatco box and it was doing this. Turns out nothing was wrong with the 'box, but it had the beginnings of a borked turbo. As all the sensors and ECU were linked it tried to stop me driving it by not letting me put it into drive (according to the mechanic, at any rate). Pretty much a case of "computer says no". Helpfully* the dash display said "gearbox fault" - which led to no end of confusion until fault codes were checked.

Might be worth a general check-over of other bits of the car. I can't imagine Rover would have set it up as stupidly as Jaguar did though, but you never know.

Have a look on the OC website, there is plenty of info on the problem you are having.

Sounds like a cracked solenoid, can be fixed on the driveway. I very much doubt its an ecu or elec fault, apart from the odd cracked solenoid very little goes wrong with them.

Do it Do it.

I was threating for ages about a 75, now I own one I would never want to be without it. The V6's are far more hardy than people give them credit for, but the reputation of the 1.8 K Series blights the whole 75 range, making them all very cheap indeed. Sure-fire future classics so people telling me.
