Dunno, there's other things to do in bridgo so time could be occupied.

Cliff railway.

Stuff 9 bub. Sorry, I did the early start on New Year's Day many times when the King Alfred running days were on. Not something I'll be doing now. Let's say more midday?

I wasn't sure mate, just hazarding a guess. Will be a drama for me to get 70 mile for 9am,I struggle the 50 mile to Cannock for ten!

Lunchtime sounds entirely more desirable. I won't have to leave until 10am then. Reet grand as they say.

12 noon at BRIDGNORTH sounds ideal for the 1220 steam train.  Apparently, there's a cliff railway nearby too.

But I don't believe anyone's mentioned that yet.

Destination clarified.

Railway?  Cliff?  What are you talking about, man?!

I'm sorry,thought bridgenorth was a town/village or something. I'll get me coat.

Unless there is only one car park or am I being dense

Or even...

There's a car park right next to the Severn Valley Railway. You can park there.

Having been on the Santa Special last Sunday, I will probably be going somewhere else. Yes, definitely steam on the 10.20 (looks as if it will be Bradley Manor* so good choice)

Get there early and there is a collectors toy fair in the Leisure Centre In High Town starting at 10.30.

Finally, I think that I should mention that there is also a Cliff Railway in Bridgnorth.

* other misleading information as to motive power is also available (2857 or DMU)

Yo! I don't even need to bring my car. Seven Valley Railway Station is a walk down the road for me. Might just leave the Sterling here and meet you lot in Bridgnorth Station for noon?

Posted

Same. If i can get a pass oot.

Let me the day before if you can and we can go together, either by car or steam train :D

Posted

I'm down south for the day so won't be about to meet up, have fun everybody.

Ah - Just had a look at what day the 1st is...so I think I may be joining you lot a bit later than noon. Mosque to be attended first so I'll possibly be there possibly around 2pm, but I will be there. Will give Dave or Andy a call when I arrive.

Once the steam and soot and public transport nonsense has gotten out of your obviously GT fuelled bloodstreams,

can we revert to proper shite related activities on days you don't get skinned, if you don't spend them with the fambly?

The Northwest Climate Changing Massive would be eternally grateful, thank you very much indeed.

^ I was thinking of visiting Preston soon to look at the bus station...

As a former denizen of the lovely town that is north of bridge, the cliff railway is great but I would say only a very short distraction unless you intend to ride it over and over.

Is the Friars still there? Many a day was spent in there while my parents got a skinful.

You're in, then?  :P

Totally...

Apparently, there is a classic chod auction at Donington Park on 24 Feb.

Shall we shine up our wellies and attend?

I mean, the ones that are still interested in individual transport, that is.

Wow, so your a Bridgnorth lad? Bridgnorth was a childhood place for me due to old_man_Sterling who knew the owner of the old Chip Shop that used to be on Bernards Hill in the early 90s. He was an Iraqi gentleman and a friend and fellow Chip Shop owner as was my old man who owned a Chip Shop in Telford. The Iraqi gentleman still lives in Bridgnorth too, or at least he did way back in 2007 when I saw him last time.

Friars is indeed still there, I took a mooch around there recently as I live nearby these days and wanted to take a look around. Back I the day, I used to visit Bridgnorth quite often just to get away from Birmingham or if non of my mates were around.

I thought about going on the Cliff Railway as it's something I've never been on but the price was something like £3.50 for a ticket or summat, I didn't fancy paying that just to go up and down a cliff side.
