I need a change... Volvo S90 £750

It's a good looking car, lovely Volvo.

I think the big engine plus saloon plus short mot means that the price is a tad high.

I will pay for the new MOT. I know estates are more sought after.

I'm really open to offers

That's bloody lovely, I seem to recall they go sideways forever too :)

swp fer lagoona?

Posted

They do go sideways and forward and all over :)

I would swap for something on two wheels but not really after another car for now.

You know what I am going to offer for swapsies don't you.

Citroen AX! Get with it man!

Get that bloody Toledo on the road otherwise I will come and steal it.

Lovely old thing, last of the line and with the 850 dash as well.

Many years ago when pissed up one night, I bought a 960 3.0 estate froma bloke in Sheffield.

Wonderful old thing with doors hewn from granite.

<Looks in garden at the six bikes>

I'm not getting rid of mine & I think Mrs Hooli would notice any of her four going missing, sorry.

I was going to ask how much you wanted for Frank, but I've just seen it advertised elsewhere, so that's me well and truly ooot.

Tetley please make me an offer.

The price I asked here for was £999.

But seriously open to offers.

Posted

Sorry SO, I couldn't get anywhere near that.

Lovely looking car though.

I thought this was North, turns out it's about 6 hours South.

Probably just as well.

I have a fast Volvo itch nigglng away.

GLWTS.

Someone should save the last American hero, RWD Volvo to whom speed is freedom of the soul. The question is not when it's going to stop - but who is going to stop it.

For what it's worth, my 960 estate is being, erm, challenging. Looks to be the same spec as yours, but an estate.

Oh dear, smokey!

Estates seem to be selling much quicker, which doesn't surprise me too much.

I'd absolutely love this. Unfortunately I already have a big car and a dearth of disposable income.

Frank is still with me.

Last month I even managed to find him a lock up but on arrival it occurred that this fine Swedish specimen is too long to fit in a standard council garage.

Oh well.

Anybody wants to swap?

Preferably something that fits into council lock up.

I'll be honest these, whilst lovely cars, are about as desirable as a dose from a hooker. At £850 you are well into S80/S60 money. I'd stick it on fleabay and see what it gets.

I don't want that to come across critical, as they are solid cars but there's just zero demand for big engined Volvos.

I concur. There's a nice-but-not-as-highly-specc'd-or-as-nice-as-Frank 960 3 litre saloon in Peterborough and the seller's struggling to shift it at £400.

If Frank were a Luxury Edition estate at £850, he'd have gone at that price - which is pushing top money for estates as it is. 960s are in the no man's land between modern car and classic at the moment - that awkward 'unfashionably out of step old vehicle' phase.

They're worthy cars. Genuinely excellent things provided you don't want to hoof around twisty roads.

Alas, people don't want large engined saloons. They're convinced things will break and despite the higher monthly payments, they're convinced a £100 VED financed up box that does 55mpg works out 'cheaper in the long run.'

They're not hopeless on fuel either - VAJ does 27mpg around the doors provided you're not stuck in stop start traffic.

Oh well...

Seriously guys, I do know that the car isn't on top of the 'desirable' list. Hence it's here.

If anyone wants to swap their equally unwanted but slightly shorter car for that tank, just let me know.

Ye, the post facelift 94 960s had that dash right until the end as the S/V90, innit. VAJ's dash is the same albeit far plebbier.

Something extremely nice happened in our family this week so we went for a posh celebratory meal out.

When leaving the house kids made sure I took the right car keys because apparently only Frank would do when it comes to nice occasions.

I must say that even without a wash and polishing he always looks brilliantly smart.

Red (mostly) Mk3 VW Golf 1.6 CL ;) ??

It fits in council lock ups just nicely.
