Unusual shite

I like to drive unusual crap, better if its a performance/gti/turbo. I don't see the point in buying anything boring and daily anymore, I have a rickety auld diesel estate and don't need another boring.

I've been looking for an FB RX7 or a Subaru Brat, but there doesn't seem to be anything around, is there anything I've missed that is similar and quirky - I'm not assed about BMWs or Volvos or anything big 'grand touring' and wafty with a farty old carb.

Early A4 2.6 quattro, if Old Man doesn't have the only one that's not bollocksed.

Cheap, too.

Where abouts in the country are you and what's the budget?

Lets see who can find you something within 30 miles or so that is cheap, fast and weird.

And then in the best traditions on here, you end up buying an overbudget Corsa diesel from Cornwall

Allegro

Ha ha this is becoming a list of my cars..... 2 out of 3 so far.... I might know where there is a Brat.....

Renault Alpine A310

Good luck finding one, and they are usually rather expensive when they turn up.

Alpine D501 aka GTA from the 80's early 90's ... I'd avoid the carb version and go for the turbo as its fuel inj as well as turbo.

A610 are easier and cheaper to find than A310.

Venturi - if you'[re rich

Lotus a la BV, mostly twin dellorto carbs though.

Lotus Elan M100

TVR wedge or S series

That Matra posted in the tat thread for 2 bags with a Pug 205 gti motor looks like it could be worth looking at,

Masser like B0ll, 6cyl, JohnF, afaik 1 of the 3 isn't a basket case.

Mitsubishi evo 1-4

Mitsubishi Galant VR4 liftback - if you find one of these please tell me.

I've also looked for these suggestions:

Marta Murena

Daihatsu Charade Gtti

But they seem very rare and either overpriced IMO or completely shagged. I liked the presence my Starion had and also nobody knew what it was. Everyone said 'you don't see them anymore' which is true, but it was a bit too big, so the Supra is out. Audi/Citroen is too wafty and a bit non-descript.

Also looking for another Impreza WRX but the 'classic' shape are also now a bit expensive or completely shagged and barried up.

Small, weird, with injection.  There's a host of Japanese stuff to fit that bill from the 80s and 90s.  Then there's the Reliant SS1 which I believe (and the internet seems to support me in this belief) was blessed with injection.  Definitely small and weird, not sure if it's going to be fast enough.

I'd totally have one, in white for preference.

Murenas are about as rare and quirky as you can get and are fabulous fun.

Should be fast if it has the Nissan turbo engine.

I just had a brainwave: Midas with an mpi a-series.

The Midas is one of the worst looking cars ever conceived.

Pah, have you seen any cars made in the last 10 years?

You can't make me retract my statement that easily!

The Midas advert - a bold statement from the man who was entirely responsible for the Maclaren F1.

That Midas is OK but it looks like the designers photoshop clone brushed the bottom half of the car several times too many.

I have spoken to Roy Gillard, Matra Murena guru.  He is not very complimentary about the car with the Pug engine.
