3 year warranty, what could go wrong ! Looks worth a try.

Roll up, roll up, DIY operations here!

No, better not say that, it'll give the idiots in charge ideas.

Parkside tools seem to be re-branded stuff from various other makes, usually pretty well known stuff. My local DIY shop is selling a camera that looks exactly like that one branded "Einhell". It looks ok - You wouldnt want to drop it, but seems fine for general use.

I've got various Parkside (& Aldi's equivilent - Workzone) stuff down the years and while it wouldn't stand up to professional/daily usage for too long, for normal DIY use, it's all been fine so far and personally I've no complaints.

I had an old parkside cordless drill from 2005 which started to need charging more often, I bought a new 18v one two years ago and now I think the charger has decided to lay down, I've hunted high and low but can I hell find the receipt to take it back for repair,

The annoying thing is that's its a bloody good drill just can't charge it anymore.

Don't put it up your butt.

Awww, spoilsport :(

There've been countless times when I've thought "what I need is an endoscope" so I evntually I bought one off ebay, it's a USB one so I need the laptop to use it. ANd how many times have I used it in the 4 years since I got it? Umm, none

This cheap aldi stuff is great for me as I keep driving over it and breaking it. I must have driven over at least 5 Aldi inspection lamps.

In all seriousness though, the Lidl/Aldi own brand tool stuff is pretty hit and miss.

Sometimes you get something amazing, like when my dad needed a power screwdriver and they only had bright pink ones left. He got one anyway and uses it proudly.

On the flip side, got a beard trimmer from there once and it's crap.

Was that the Wahl ones? That's what Lidl were selling here, I've had some Wahl clippers for, ooh, 18 years and they've been fine (combs are crap but that seems to be general) so I thought the clippers would be a safe bet.

I bought a bagless vacuum cleaner from Lidl, I don't think it was Parkside but one of the brands they usually have. Brilliant* it was, the crap whizzed round and around inside gradually turning into a fine powder, whereupon it went through the mesh and blocked the filter. You gets what you pay for...

I wouldn't buy a second hand one, for reasons that have been hinted at already.

As long as it's clean does it matter? It's not like you'll be eating with it or anything...

But if a really fit bird lives in the upstairs flat and has bare floorboards ,and you live underneath ,a simple 1/4" hole in your platerboard ceiling...and just you inspect gaps between her floorboards...

Don't put it up your butt.

Surely he'd be able to see how much rainwater he'd gathered without needing a camera?

Great for looking in cylinder bores for evidence of HGF and also for contemplating for two weeks before finally putting it up your anus.

Seriously impressed with Lidl customer service! I've just called therm on 0370 444 1234 and have been told these items will hit the stores on Monday 15th June. The call was easy-no pushing of button 1 or 2, just a human being (clearly in the UK!) and very friendly at that! Advised me further that if my local store (Borehamwood, Hertfordshire) is sold out they can check other stores in my area. Guess where I'm off to after work on Monday? Will report back when I've bought it!

You can tell the Lidl application to remind you on the morning offers go live, handy if you are as scatter brained as I am.

gaps between her floorboards...

Never heard it called that before.

No good going in Lodls after work for one , you have to get there at 8 am or the good stuff is all gone by dinnertime . Their padded overalls for 20 quid were a fantastic buy, but all sold out by 10am . Cheap welding rods were shit.. more so if you bought 3 boxes .  :-(  Thing for turning angle grinder to cut off saw was crap

Angle vice thing was crap.

Variable speed 5" angle grinder was good ,

9" grinder was awful , gave it away..

Sabre saw great

weller type solder gun crap,   way too hot , i use it as a fag lighter in the shed

hotglue gun great

Angle finder spirit level great

vernier calipers ,  great.. bought 5 !

diamond warding files  great

cooked ham slices , can't find better !

Ratchet spanners - all broken!

They should rebrand all the hand tools 'Snap Off'

Parkside dremmel thing , i've got 2 of those broken too

Posted

My ratchet scanners are still good! Including the 10mm that broke then magically repaired itself and continued like nothing happened. We're yours the flexi head ones?

I was expecting mine to fall apart, but they're still going despite plenty of abuse !

Think I'll have a punt on one.

Thanks for all your input (amusing and otherwise!)

To add to Lidl's customer services credit: About 10years back I had one of their starter/power packs, it was fine for about 2.5 years (I charged it as rec'd in the instructions) then it crapped out. Being a bit OCD for receipts - I keep them for about five years before dumping them, I dug out the receipt after a mate told me there ought to be a 3 year guarantee. I presented to my then local Lidl branch, they looked at it and said,

"Sorry, we don't have any replacements now nor do we have any coming in, all we can do is refund your money" Which they did.

Well, you can't really say fairer than that can you. I was impressed after that amount of time.
