CHRIS1980
No it isn't. When Practical Classics printed that (along with all the other press quoting the press release) I sent them a photo of the one that is only a couple of miles from me. Smaller but from the same series. Can't find the photo at the moment but if I do I'll post it.I'm sure I saw one in leicester aswell.

Conrad D. Conelrad
H.D. Walker, on the A56 where it leaves Sale. Expansion begins with a canopy over the pumps. If you can't make out that text on the roof, it reads "We can supply Taxis, Tyres, Tools". The larger slogan is "Old Black and White Garage", a rare example of a slogan which is much more accurate now than it was then! But the old black and white garage isn't stuck in the past. This 1950s photograph shows the small glass palace showroom which was built alongside the old building. Some other photos show it to be Rootes affiliated. Nothing says "Suburbs of south Manchester" like a Ford Fairlane. Here's the latest photo I can find of it. It's now a Renault dealer, and going by their "New Renault 25" stickers in the window, it's 1983. Three years later the garage closed, and the site was redeveloped... ...into this Rubiks Cube inspired building. It currently houses the offices for a paper shredding company. hennabm, forddeliveryboy, warren t claim and 2 others
AlabamaShrimp
For me the above post about the black and white garage really somes up England. You've gone from what was obviously an expensive Victorian detached house where they opened a garage in the garden which over time grew into quite a substantial business. Then it closed. Fuck it, let's knock it all down put a faceless ugly building in its place, traffic lights and tons of railings. Sod everything let's cover the county in offices and giant tin sheds, it's the future! Conrad D. Conelrad
To Chester now, where we find Slade's Garage. If Ol' Herbert stepped through a wormhole into 2015 he might recognise his garage but not much of its surroundings. He might wonder what happened to his neighbour, for a start. The building is currently empty - I tracked down the location from a rejected planning request to turn it into a takeaway. Conrad D. Conelrad
While it might not have the Autoshite glamour of Blackpool's old Belle Vue Garage, who wouldn't enjoy stumbling across this beauty in SE Manchester? Goodness only knows if those pump globes survived being used for decoration, but the building itself has dodged demolition. Unfortunately it looks like this now. You know, I'm not deliberately looking for ruined old garages. If I keep looking, surely I'll find one which has been improved upon? Right? Conrad D. Conelrad
Levenshulme, 1962. Isn't that just perfect? You might want to brace yourself for this: It took me a while to decide whether that was even the same building. If you check the historic StreetView you can see that the brick pillars are still there, but the building between them has been extensively... uh, remodelled. The canopy appears to be the same one. We lived in Bury for a time in the early 90s and by that point Finneys had the Renault franchise, but they lost it around 1992/3 I think and moved out of the showroom.
