FOR SALE

Ford Mondeo TDCI DAD GHIA X

It runs fine, I have driven it a few times, if something went wrong on it, he would usually leave it for six months and then get me to fix it, usually with a scrap yard replacement (front springs), or new service items from ebay. It starts OK, but there is a heavy squeal from the aux belt. This is because the tensioner spring thing has seized - I've ordered a new tensioner and belt off ebay and will fit them prior to sale. It doesn't have DMF, I've a feeling it was done within the last xx,000 miles as it has done just over 200,000 miles. I think it had an MOT recently. I bought DAD road tax at xmas, so it'll have 'drive me home' tax.

He swapped the alloy wheels for 15" steel wheels and I got some Mondeo wheel trims. I'm not sure why, but I think buying 17" tyres was getting expensive, not that he has done a huge amount of miles in it anyway.

Here is the only photo I have of it, and a google streetview one at that:

I'm not afraid of offers, will pass them on if anyone's interested. It's a Mondeo, I've probably gone overboard on the description.

TDCi Mondeos do seem to be a rather awkward car to sell on.  I should know, I've got two of the fucking things.

It's the death rattle of the flywheel or smoky injectors that give people the frighteners, both up to £600 each to sortt properly

Not with our friends Messrs. Swan & Vestas and their 'one strike and you're toast' problem solving kit it ain't.

my mate had both of those go in the last two years, a new turbo needed plus both rear suspension arms needing swapping out and a rear caliper. It all happened bit by bit and ended up costing him over £1500 on an 04 plate that is probably worth £200 as it has hyper mileage and a dodgy paint job after seagull crap killed the lacquer. It would have been scrapped if it was mine.

It's going at 12.

Pictures of it towed away to be weighed in, please.

I slagged my diesel vectra to death on here, however they never seem to shit themselves on the scale of a diesel mondeo - the automotive equivalent of a lemming.

My Vauxhall loving neighbour caved in a bought a Mondeo TDCi. I mentioned he's previously slated them saying they were shit but this 'is a good one/not worried about the DMF/it'll be alright.'  Which it was.

For about 6 weeks when the starter motor played and, surprise, surprise, was full of metal filings. Then the DMF gave up the ghost, and he sold it for about a third of what he paid for it.

You can/could score quite late TDCis for silly cheap money, but it's because they're fucking awful.

Let's not also forget that they are a complete twat to work on . This is because they used a transit engine which seems to be the size of a v8 and needed Vaseline and a shoe horn to get it in a car . The alt belt tensioner is a particular bastard design . I hate them
